Forgotten Realms Books to Have Several Digital DLCs, Including One Featuring Asterion

So Cubicle 7 have been releasing small 16-20 page pdf only releases for the last 5 years for WFRP 4e and I must say they have been brilliant. They’ve usually been a mix of a bit of a theme, some mechanics, a few stat blocks and some locations. Or a short adventure with similar. Examples...

D&D In a Castle Organizer to Launch D&D Dungeon Master University

That that depends on the style. Presumably you would make them all + threads to stop folks derailing things with ‘this isn’t a problem.’ I do think folks would be more tolerant if they knew their preference would be highlighted at some point. For instance if there was a session on Adventure Path...

D&D General Best Big Urban/City Material (Any Edition)

So if you want some sourcebooks for cities and city adventures you can’t go wrong with WFRP 4e. It’s a different system to D&D but close enough fantasy that you could convert the locations. They put a huge amount of effort into making the cities come to life with both settings and adventures...

D&D In a Castle Organizer to Launch D&D Dungeon Master University

I do think it would make a brilliant column on EN World. RPG Univeristy. Run a semester on one of the four topics. Post a lesson each week. Set some homework. Plenty of discussion on the thread. Folks could post their work to the chat for collective feedback or some volunteers could give...

D&D 5E (2024) New Campaign: game day setup

Very neat and tidy! On a side note. I hope you enjoy Skull and Shackles. I played it once in the original Pathfinder and once converted to WFRP and thoroughly enjoyed both!

D&D In a Castle Organizer to Launch D&D Dungeon Master University

I once took part in a summer adventure writing course by Nicholas Logue. I seem to remember it being less than $100 dollars I think for 6 sessions, over a couple of weeks with lots of chat in between. I’m not sure how many people took part but he gave specific advice on your ‘assignments’ and I...

D&D 5E (2024) Effects that kill you at 0 hp

I agree with a lot of the comments. Particularly the telegraphing. If the party know that something can kill at zero then I think it does create a huge amount of tension.

D&D 5E (2024) Effects that kill you at 0 hp

My players fought the executioner from Dungeons of Drakenheim in their last session and it (like many other creatures) has an ability that kills the target if the attack drops them to 0 hp. No saving throw, no chance of word of healing. It was brutal and shocking - kind of how it is intended to...

D&D In a Castle Organizer to Launch D&D Dungeon Master University

I think that most of the foundry mods are free and Patreon can provide all the maps and music you could ever need for less than $20 a month. The bigger question with polished games is the prep time to put all these elements together. We kind of touched on it when we talked about Landing Pages...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

It’s a good principle. You should play your character for as long as you enjoy playing your character. The point at which you stop enjoying it, well you get my drift. If a not-enjoyable character can be made enjoyable by changing a relatively minor detail then I honestly don’t see a problem...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

By that logic why not give wizards access to all their spells? They can only cast one per round.

Dungeon Mastering as Management: A Leadership Case Study

On this basis there are a hell of a lot more books on DM advice out there than it would first appear. I revisited How to Win Friends and Influence People recently, and it struck me: Dale Carnegie would’ve made a hell of a Dungeon Master. Not because he’d know the rules (he wouldn’t), but...

Dungeon Mastering as Management: A Leadership Case Study

So I’ve been reflecting on the curious overlap between Dungeon Mastering and professional management. Not the “I’m the boss” kind of management, but the “I’m responsible for people with wildly different goals, temperaments, and attention spans, and I need them to work together without setting...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I kinda get why being able to switch them was added into the rules. If your fighter selects short sword and longsword but then finds a wondrous magical battleaxe it’s a bit crappy find a big chunk of your skill just doesn’t apply. Or perhaps their preferences change in that character. You...

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

I think it will show ongoing sales of the core books predominantly. Given how late in the quarter dragon delves was released.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

Has this thread been forgotten? Indications generally seemed pretty rosy. Does it look like a dying/failing game? We should get the Q2 investor report next week. https://www.enworld.org/threads/according-to-the-hasbro-q1-earning-call-d-d-sales-are-up-substantially.713075/

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

Im kinda ok with that. Don’t really want to go back to the days of having 3hp at 1st level, a 22% chance of being able to pick a lock and 1 spell per day (which might be cantrip). 😉

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

I thought you liked Level Up though? That had undeniable power creep on 5e? A whole suite of extra abilities were added to every class? It’s not a problem but seems like a contradiction.
