Bounded accuracy means that the monsters' saves are not taking PC numbers into account. Just character class features. I think that's excessive. 8 + 5(if the PC even has a 20) + 6(if the PC is 17th level) is still only a 19. Even a monster with a 0 will make that 10% of the time.

Bounded accuracy makes that unnecessary. Especially with all the ways to make saves better.

No. The problem with 3e wasn't the save system. The problem with 3e was how unbounded bonuses were. It's okay to have one good save and two bad ones if you aren't looking at a bad +8 vs. a DC of 32.

I still fail to see how the ogres only get in 1 single hit half the time, but then I don't play 5.5e, so maybe all that mastery mumbo jumbo that I didn't like in the playtest does it. Edit: And I see cleave, so he put the ogres next to each other to get that advantage.

Where did he say focus fire? All I see are percentages of PCs staying up. If the ogres focus their attacks, there's no way a PC stays up unless in the entire combat the two ogres only score a single hit.

I think you are reading too much into that. It seems to give equal weight to world building and character building from the wording. However, backgrounds are rarely going to conflict with world building, but it can happen. The flipside crafting one to meet the player's story they have in mind...

Well, you flubbed the second group. We are trying to look at what +1 str bonus does, yet you gave that group an additional con bonus as well. That needs to go, because it skews the results.

It wasn't an example meant to be used, as was clear from the context. I was simply showing that percentages don't mean a whole heck of a lot, because that was a 100% increase and the only way you could even begin to make it matter was to cherry pick something ultra weak for the PC to face.
