D&D 5E (2024) What is your oppinion of 5.24 so far?

I like it. I was very worried that I wouldn't like the Bard but I like it. Going to adopt it, but might still houserule a few things like Spell Points instead of Spell Slots for the Sorcerer.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal: "New Wizard"

Remember that they say that the Sorcerer catches up by level 3, but that's in terms of spells prepared (spell slots were always the same quantity for the two of them). Sorcerers spells known = spells prepared. Wizards spells known = spellbook spells; spells prepared are changed every day (and...

D&D General A Setting with Only Small Races/Species?

This was my thought; especially since Dwarves have elemental parallels too (Azer, Galeb Duhr, Eisk Jaat, Strom Burz, etc). Dwarf is just the Hill Giant equivalent.

    D&D 5E (2014) Rare Dragonborn

I love that. A Mithral Dragonborn would function similarly, I'd assume. I wonder if you could have a Quinchromatic Dragonborn whose breath was variable and had traits of Tiamat ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Rare Dragonborn

Oh I think I remember that, but I also remember that in Draconomicon 1, the definition divide between Elemental Planar Dragons and Catastrophic Dragons was that Elemental Dragons were influenced but Catastrophic Dragons were original. But then when MM3 came out and introduced Catastrophics for...

D&D General Words which replaced "race" in fantasy games

It's all very tricky. None of us are perfect, and leading with humility, grace, and good intentions are what matter. You seem to be going about it right. In another thread I responded to Micah Sweet about the goal of D&D, and I think the goal of the game's makers is to be as big tent as...

D&D General A Gnome and a Halfling have a Baby. What is it?

Tauriel and Kíli would beg to differ! ;P

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Monk"

You might even call them a Bully McGuire!

D&D General A Gnome and a Halfling have a Baby. What is it?

That means you can't have Dwelves though! In my personal setting, Gnomes are a hodgepodge species between Halflings, Elves, and Dwarves. And to distinguish Halflings from small sized Humans, Halflings are more related to Orcs in my setting – the agrarian pigs to the Orcs' wild boar, if you were.

    D&D 5E (2024) Standard vs Alternate covers (+)

The 5e spines already don't line up correctly with their flame lengths…

    D&D 5E (2014) Greyhawk: Pitching the Reboot

This. Magic isn't common in the setting. The PCs aren't common either.

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 won so many awards that it started to "affect development"

Never underestimate the ability of developers to get games running on weaker hardware. I've seen amazing tech demos of a single coder in his spare time getting Super Mario 64 to run on Game Boy Advance hardware. Heck, somehow they got Xenoblade and DK Country Returns – both Wii games – running...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rare Dragonborn

They're more like Dragons of the Elemental Chaos, but in 5e with the elements being just as much related to the Prime Material as they are to the Inner Planes, I could totally see Primal Dragonborn. I just think if you're going to do Catastrophic Dragons, the Chromatics sort of move into the...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook reveal: "New Sorcerer"

That's probably why it went away – to consolidate with the new expanded metamagic (and letting you pick more metamagic too).

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

College of Swords after 10th however will have good combat spells. But only trickling in slowly. They're more of a combat medic / lazylord in that case, but College of Swords wants to be a Bravura Warlord.

D&D General Words which replaced "race" in fantasy games

I like how Bloomburrow is using "Folk" for each of its 10 archetypal dual-colour types of animals, hereafter listed in WUBRG or Ravnica Guild order: Birdfolk, Ratfolk, Lizardfolk, Raccoonfolk, Rabbitfolk, Batfolk, Otterfolk, Squirrelfolk, Mousefolk, and Frogfolk. Presumably other Folk exist...

D&D 5E (2024) Which subclasses “should” have been in 2024

Yeah I can say it even if you don't agree with me… I think they could definitely add more dials but I really like this additional tactical dial. Not every Fullcaster has as much options paralysis as Wizards do, either. And the toys I listed were just the ones held in common by one or more...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rare Dragonborn

4e and Fizban dragon variants were interesting and I'd lean into those for rare Dragonborn. Chromatic Dragons – Purple, Brown, Grey Metallic Dragons – Mithral, Orichalcum, Mercury, Iron, Steel, Cobalt Catastrophic Dragons – Avalanche, Blizzard, Earthquake, Tornado, Typhoon, Volcanic, and...
