D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

And a ghost's possession ability for example literally sites the dispel good and evil spell as a way to remove it, it too has this embedded on its rules context. My issue here is, if people want to houserule some spells because they don't quite fit their aesthetic of what they want the game to...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

Domination is also a much stronger form of control than a charm person spell is. So would you not allow dispel evil and good to remove domination because it "only " removed the charmed condition?

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

So in this case the body is dominated by a person who clearly doesn't want the domination removed. How is that different from a spirit who doesn't want to leave the possessing body? The way the spell works to me is..... Possession and Domination are conditions that are applied to a creature...

D&D General Critical Role Season 4 and the Ship of Theseus

Yes, and I feel like with this season the OG members of Critical Role are trying to answer the OP's very question. How much can they change and it still draw in their CR audience? (and of course...grow it!) Have they built something that requires their constant participation....or have they...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

Lets extend this to another aspect of Dispel Evil and Good. Ok I am dominated by an undead lich. You use break enchantment on me to remove the charmed condition (aka the dominate). Do you require a save or an attack roll for that effect?

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

I'm in the same boat with A24. They are the studio that continues to impress me with their innovation; they are the ones pushing Hollywood right now. Not everyone movie they make is a winner, but they have a lot of them, and they are movies that linger with me, as opposed to the disposal fare I...

    Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

Life on earth is WEIRD, like weeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiird. There are so many insane creatures on just our planet. Quick Example, the Tongue-Eating Louse. Its a creature that literally eats a fish's tongue....and becomes the tongue. And the fish just lives on with a new foreign tongue. That is just on...

    Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

this was my thought as well. I think Wendy has had a good bit longer in the synth body than any of the others.

    Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

I am curious if the fact that so much of what we have seen in media so far is "media from 100+ years ago"....if that is just a quirk of these people or does that speak to a cultural stagnation? aka stuff nowadays is crap and so people prefer the shows of the ancient times? Or...maybe even the...

Last year being the operative word.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

I think we are in general agreement, the crux of the debate (if there is any really) is on this statement above. Simply put, we don't know what the level of effort to maintain 100% perfect replication would look like in terms of time and energy. And it may be shown that the costs are simply too...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

Hopefully this year will finally prove that the days of 1 billion dollar superhero movies are behind us. The genre has been exhausted like every genre that has come before, and now its only the die hards that are watching these, not the mainstream audiences. And that's just fine, it was bound...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why doesn't the Tarrasque have Regen?

I agree that for many monsters, the regen values are not high enough to really impact your standard "3 turn combat" scenario. Regen does two principal things: 1) Keeps out the riff raff. Its a mechanic that ensures you have to either have certain capabilities or deal X amount of damage...

D&D 5E (2014) Dispel Evil and Good cleric spell 5th level in use

I think the trick is, which was well noted above. This spell is not offensive, it’s a recovery spell. It is removing a condition from a character (in this case banishment). That is why it doesn’t have a save or attack

D&D 5E (2014) Ideas for Slight Level Adjustment?

100% agree. For most levels I wouldn’t bat an eye, but 4th -> 5th is one of biggest jumps in the game. I do think care needs to be taken here

    Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

Saw the first two episodes. Rock solid so far, I'm engaged and intrigued. The characters are interesting, the new aliens pretty cool and interesting...I'm in! The big thing that struck me is....honestly Earth doesn't look too bad. When your used to the sterile existence of space travel in teh...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

This is actually what your cells do. You have immune cells that look for cells no longer following the program (ala cancer) and kill them, and your cells are programmed to die if they veer too far off the course. Of course those programs are based on dna and your back to the propagation of...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Its actually an interesting question if that kind of longevity is even possible. Sake of argument lets say your a super advanced race that uses nanites or something to repair and maintain everything, perfect over time. Well those nanites themselves have to be repaired and replicate....and with...

    D&D 5E (2024) Why doesn't the Tarrasque have Regen?

Less a power question and more trying to get in the mindset of WOTC designers (and perhaps there is an interview out there someone could point to that explains why). The Tarrasque, the CR30 big baddie, the apocolyptic force that threatens even 20th level parties. And yet with the Tarrasque of...

    D&D 5E (2024) Avatar of Bane 2.0. BG 3.5 Themed Game

Yes I found my mistake. Where are the new CR calculations found, I have not seen any formal new rules for them in 2024, just the ones 3rd parties have made by extrapolating monster data.
