    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

That means that either they are old enough to remember, or were young enough that they've been through history classes. ;)

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

Yeah. If they aren't going to be tall, make them like 6 inches to 1 foot, with a penchant for cleaning and cobbling shoes. I watch the Daily Show and other comedy "news" shows, and they periodically go out and ask people questions about current events. The level of ignorance and/or just plain...

No no no. That one is Slyminster. Sliminster is the dietician.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

Elves are explicitly a race that remembers things, though. They go through old memories when they engage in reverie(the elven meditation at night). Knowledge and remembering are one of their main things! :)

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

Candle Keep and other major libraries would have that information. You could go to a Temple of Oghma. Heck, Contact Other Plane and Commune, or even Legend Lore would yield information. The loss of information after a few hundred years makes much more sense here in the real world where we...

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

About the only way I could think to do it would be to show 9th, 10th, and 11th level spells being casually thrown about by powerful Arcanists.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

Hell, if a study came out showing that 20% of Americans STILL don't know that the Berlin Wall was taken down, I wouldn't be surprised.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

That's a reasonable stance to take. For myself, I am really fond of Tolkien's elves, so my elves are immortal, but after about 2000 years they get restless and go to Arvandor "Aman" to live with the elven gods. My elves are also very tall, averaging 6 feet tall.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

If the average lifespan is 2000+ years and many live up to 2500 years, a whole lot of elves would remember 1800 years ago. And elves are a very learned race, and THEY are the ones that taught Netheril magic.

Gray elves. The others lived like 1500 or 1750 or something like that. However, humans only live to about 75, but some live to 110+. Elves would be similar with some living 2500 or more years.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

One of Halaster's apprentices was a still living Netherese Wizard who was killed in 1369 or something like that.

There are also still living Netherese wizards. The Shades that returned in their floating city. And others. More are liches as you mention.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

That depends on the DM running it. I've been running the Realms since 1e when elves lived 2000+ years. It wouldn't have made any sense for me to have a ton of elves who were alive before the fall of Netherill and still alive in my game to suddenly have died more than a thousand years before...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

I don't have the 5.5e MM. Those were from the 5e MM. ;) Or, since you have infinite time and exceeding powerful magic, make yourself some Gauntlets of Ogre Power. Better yet, since you are essentially a legendary creature, make a Belt of Storm Giant Strength. +9 strength saves!
