    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

That's not the simplest explanation. We play this game in modern times through a modern lens. Except me apparently. I'm being told that in 5.5e the only way for half races to happen is by magical energy. I'm the one here saying that 5.5e says both(and it does). It writes biological transfer...

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

So I guess all races just spontaneously come into being, because none of them say it's the old fashioned way. Sorry, at some point you just have to go with the simplest explanation.

There are clear physical/biological traits and aspects. That means blood connection, which means cross race breeding in the past. You can invent stork babies if you want, but what is written is not that.

You're inventing fiction that isn't there. It doesn't say that, so it isn't that. For whatever reason you can't or don't want to see what the truth of 5.5e is.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

🤦‍♂️ If you're going to call it Netheril Rising, you need one of those guys to take a ground city and be in preparation to make it fly ;) :p

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

Right. The undead cleaning and serving crew probably aren't going to be liches and vampires.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

We've been through this. There are objectively physical(genetic) transferences with Aasimar and Tieflings. Your desires for how reproduction happens cross-race doesn't change that fact. No. It's strictly biological in any form a GOD takes. He has the ability to genetically reproduce no matter...

Yeah. I was making that argument with elves a while back in the thread. :)

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Both are correct. There still exist races that have biological reproduction to them. Aasimar and Tieflings for example.

The bolded is flat out wrong as the default for D&D. You can run your game that way, but in D&D cross-breeding is pretty darn common.

I mean, they literally are a hybrid. "HALF-DRAGON A dragon’s magical nature allows it to breed with virtually any creature. Conception usually occurs while the dragon has changed its shape; it then abandons the crossbreed offspring."

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

While I can respect and understand your position, I don't share it. I don't want all the races to be that prominent. In my game they pretty much all exist, but a Tabaxi wandering into a town is going to draw attention due to the rarity of them. The same with Loxodon, Kenku and Firbolgs. With...

    They really should be.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Yep. That's why they don't exist as a playable PC race in my game. Dragons are powerful. Whether through birth or dragon egg corruption, the blood of dragons would make the responding creature far more powerful than a normal halfling, elf or human. Dragonborn exist in my game, but are closer...

Half-dragons are much more powerful than Dragonborn and would not be a playable 5e race.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

Looks like someone may have you blocked. I was responding to a post that said that Poland's first official king was 1000 years ago, six centuries before the Americas were discovered.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

1000 years ago would be 1025. Columbus "discovered" America in 1492, well short of 6 centuries. Vikings, however, discovered the Americas in 1021, 4 years before your king there. ;)

About as many times as evil Aboleths or evil Mummies. Dragonborn are not a 5e element. They've been around for multiple editions now. You are wrong. Every time I add in a race to the Realms is adding an ingredient to the pizza sauce. It's not adding in a side drink, because it's now a core...
