D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

There entire 2014 rules are optional in the 2024 revision. So, to me it feels like there are even more optional rules then before.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I could have sworn you’ve said the only thing you want from WotC is for them to open up old settings to the DMguild, which is exactly what they’ve been doing. Seems like they cater to you the exact thing you want from them?

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

You’d have to ask the people that oppose the picture. The ‘Your story to tell’ part is the context in which the picture was posted. Ignoring that ignores the whole point of the post.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

Yes. Isn’t that exactly what they’re doing? If they’re against the idea ‘your story is yours to tell’ Just to reiterate my question that you didn’t answer. How is: ‘Your story is yours to tell’ dictating the love lives of your character?

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

How is: ‘Your story is yours to tell’ dictating the love lives of your character? They are literally saying the opposite.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

Or to put it another way, kids today want roleplay and storytelling, and so do plenty of older players.

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

The tagline for the post was ‘In this realm, your story is yours to tell’ Seems to me like the goal of the post was to remind people they can play the game however they want, as the game is for everyone. Funny how some people feel excluded by that.

    D&D 5E (2024) The Great Wizard Extinction.

Anecdotally, Wizard is the only class I haven't played in 5E (apart from once where I controlled an NPC Wizard for a bit, I’ve never rolled one up as a PC). Other than a rare player who tends to mostly play wizards, I just don’t see them picked by people I personally play with.

I think it is time for a break.

It happens. When 3.5 came out I was still trying to find a regular game several years after moving from my hometown to the city. In the end I found a group but didn’t click with them, and found I was no longer enjoying the game. I stopped playing for about a decade from 2004 - 2014. Instead I...

What Bit Of Fan Fic/Edit/Theory Made a Thing Better or even GREAT For You?

I always liked the theory that in The Big Lebowski, Donny (played by Steve Buscemi) is actually just a figment of Walter's imagination (a friend that died in the war perhaps). There's a couple of scenes that break this, but it's still interesting to watch the film with that in mind.

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Yeah, I had a google of it as well in the end. That’s what I found as well. Also, lots of references to the fact it is often mis-attributed to Shakespeare.

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

I’m not sure that’s a Van Gogh quote? Also, my reading of the quote is that it’s saying the concept of love can be both a blessing and a curse. Not that a thing you love can be both good and bad. I grant you, it’s a small distinction.

D&D General What version of D&D are you playing?

One game is 2014 rules, another game is 2014 converted to 2024 rules. I haven't had a chance yet to run a game from scratch with 2024 rules, but would love to get something going. I also play in a game using Lamentations of the Flame Princess, which I think is based on BECMI, but I'm not sure...

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

'Looks like it was made by AI' is still a derogatory way to describe art or writing for a reason. I remember seeing a comment online that kids in class were calling AI art 'Boomer Art'. Which isn't as accurate as calling it slop, but it's still funny to me.

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

I can see two huge uses for AI in the future. AI companion programs that will prey on the lonely and further isolate people. Scamming old people.

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

Huh? This is the opposite of what I'm talking about. The AI will translate the thing you want even if it's wrong, to make you happy. It will also tell you to leave your spouse so you can spend more time with it.

ChatGPT lies then gaslights reporter with fake transcript

A computer program can be programmed to value one thing over another. In the case of AI chats they are often programmed to make the user happy and there have been plenty of examples of AI telling lies that the user wants to hear.

Paul Thomas Anderson Movies: Ranked! (And discussion)

There was also a film called Reign over me in which he plays someone that's had a breakdown after losing their family in 9/11 and is obsessed with the video game Shadow of the Colossus. He's an interesting example of the difference a good director can make to an actors performance. The way PTA...
