New One Ring and Lord of the Rings Starter Sets Launching at Gen Con

I'm assuming regional. We're both North America, @Crusadius is Australia. Anyone confirm delivery by region?

New One Ring and Lord of the Rings Starter Sets Launching at Gen Con

I did. I was just starting to wonder about that, since I've heard nothing from Free League. I ordered July 8th. Thank you for the update.

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

Convergent evolution, like carcinization. Everything eventually ends up a crabby*, stocky parody of a Scotsman. *pun thoroughly intended.

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

Lol! I never thought of that--that Dragonlance lems is enough that minotaurs are almost always Roman-Legion-coded initially for me. Viking minotaurs sound awesome. Edit: typo

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

Great memory; thanks for sharing it. I actually PLAYED before I ever read a fantasy novel. I was more "Hardy Boys" and "Illustrated Classics" at that time, but I WAS seriously into Castle Lego as a kid, which probably contributed to how quickly I got into the game, and then the novels after I...

D&D's October Product Revealed to Be Stranger Things Tie-In

Same. We even called it "Version 1.5: If you can find it in a book you can play it."

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

It's funny to me, because I came to D&D largely through Dragonlance originally, and I have realized that I tend to view other settings and storylines through that lens, even Lord of the Rings (which I read later, reread and enjoyed more, and certainly put more academic analysis into). It's the...

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Word of God/Word of St. Paul is yes. In regard to Peter David connecting Trelane to Q and SNW's portraly of Trelane-Is-A-Q, "co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman told Inverse: 'Greater minds than ours put it together, and we were like, well, let us reward that brilliant thinking by making it canon'"...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

LOL at myself. And I was literally reading the first novel with my daughter at the time I was trying to brainstorm clerics, and Baldric never even crossed my mind. I'm tired, Boss.

D&D's October Product Revealed to Be Stranger Things Tie-In

I admit, I bought it just because I wanted a demogorgon mini. Coincidentally, I just re-read it, because my seven-year old has it in his head he wants to do a dungeon crawl, and it might be perfect for what he wants. But I might hold off now for the new set and see how it fits my kids group...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

That's my bard's next hit single. Somehow, I always forget that guy exists. And even then, I forget he's a cleric. For whatever reason, every Faerun bad guy is a wizard, most likely a lich, in my head. Yup, those were the two I was able to call up after a little bit. Thank you. Now I half-want...

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

I've never been a huge FR player; aside from Shadowheart (who took me way too long to remember), does FR have "iconic" clerics? (Yes, as I type that I remembered there's an entire series called "The Cleric Quintet.") Oh. Indeed! I'm sure we'll see Drizzt. We always see Drizzt.

D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Edit: Spoilers (and apologies for not doing that to start) She has , so there's some cross-marketing synergy there, too. Now I'm wondering if she pops up

New One Ring and Lord of the Rings Starter Sets Launching at Gen Con

I'm running the first starter this fall. Maybe I'll tack this on to the end. :D

New One Ring and Lord of the Rings Starter Sets Launching at Gen Con

I don't think I made it 90 seconds from when I saw it posted in the One Ring Facebook group to hitting "Order." I had them ordered even before I got the notification email from Free League. I, too, have a Starter Set problem.

Planescape Which Planescape faction do you most closely identify with?

If I lived in Sigil? Sensates. Hands down. The drive to experience everything in the city would override any other dogma. Real world me? Free League. Not much of a joiner, this one, and like Groucho said, "I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me as a member."

    ALIEN RPG Launches New Kickstarter

I didn't see a "need" for minis in 1st edition, and I ended up with a bunch of The Loyal Subjects "Easter Egg" Aliens I found on clearance, so if I'm running Alien, I'll be using those guys and little green army men. My PCs can deal with the fact they're neon. We'll just pretend it's...

Project Sigil Sigils not dead yet. Claim a mimic mini for Sigil at dndbeyond.

I mean, downloading a free mini just made me 100% more likely to open the app and see what I can do with it. And it gave me the excuse to "Sync my Entitlements*" and update my dice, because I always forget to do that. *I still find this wording to be hilariously a "First World Problem."

Which game books most inspire the "sense of wonder" in you?

As a kid: the Time of the Dragon boxed set. (ETA: And the Dragonlance Adventures hardcover, as I read it before I'd finished Chronicles or read Legends.) Today/now, like @Mercurius, pretty much anything from Free League, but Vaesen and One Ring are the two I've most focused on collecting/most...
