WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

To follow up my last point...I totally get it why some people are sick of the constant negativity surrounding WotC/D&D. It's the anniversary year, what should ostensibly be a time to celebrate a game that one loves and, from what I can tell, the mood isn't quite celebratory. That's a real...

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

Ok. I don't understand, I'm not arguing against any of this. I don't think I have said anywhere that WotC didn't try to contact him, did I? Someone said it seems logical that they would have sent a registered letter. That is logical, for sure. But it's not a stated fact, is it? We just have...

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

No record of them doing so. 🤷‍♂️ You can feel free to assume it into existence, of course, but then...look, this thread has become about people who always harp negatively ignoring facts in evidence or assuming facts not in evidence, so...wouldn't that be doing the same?

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

I didn't say the claim that they tried to reach out wasn't valid. IIRC, they never actually reached him though; hence why I mentioned registered mail. If my recollection is false, I will be glad to take that back. It should be noted, though, that by the time the Pinkertons show up at the...

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

Again, they were hired to retrieve the merchandise. No investigation needed; WotC knew where the merchandise was. Is that clear now? And no, there wouldn't be a need to have 7 lawyers showing up. Registered mail seems like it would suffice.

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

Thanks for the analysis. I am not sure who had the greater proprietary claim over the cards...hence my opinion that someone who is an expert on the law should be involved first. As you write above, there are some maybes and mights. That being the case, even though it's reasonable to assume...

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

Your second paragraph from post 335 reads otherwise, but if you're walking that back now, fine.

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

So, you're not done then? As for facts, who's spinning? The Pinkertons did retrieve the merchandise, like I said; I'm not the one saying they were merely investigating...come on. Please note: I haven't yet said WotC did anything wrong...just that if there's confusion legally over who owns the...

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

So you're really done this time? Words mean things. You know this, presumably, since you are choosing the words that make what WotC did be seen in the best possible light. Which you are allowed to do, of course...but maybe own it, just as the people who only see WotC in a negative light...

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

Dude, they hired them to retrieve the property, not this "track down" stuff. Probably good that you are done; starting to sound like alternate facts are being thrown around on both sides.

This is what the lawyers would be for: to determine what the person is entitled to, legally, and what (in this case) WotC can do, legally. As many people point out above, the issue is with the store that sold them; as far as the buyer is concerned, he bought them fair and square.

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

I genuinely don't feel anything about what happened. If something belongs to you, sure. Collect. Ownership of the cards here was in question though,...hence why I assumed lawyers would be more useful than Pinkertons. "I get you're associating Pinkerton with some sort of militaristic, 'boot...

WotC Greg Tito On Leaving WotC: 'It feels good to do something that doesn't just line the pockets of *****'

Well, the title of the article you linked to is Magic publishers sent Pinkerton agents to a YouTuber’s house to retrieve leaked cards "Retrieve" =/= "investigate." 🤷‍♂️

Not sure, but whatever the outcome is, it should probably involve lawyers more than Pinkertons, no?
