D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

I am not discounting that, I already said Goldmoon and Riverwind as natives, the Majeres as hispanic. Maybe Tanis as half-asian would work, I only ruled out black and asian for the cast of the heroes. I’d still try to keep it somewhat similar to the paintings though instead of flat out ignoring...

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

why, you think there are no good actors that resemble Elmore’s paintings? Also, I never said they need to be exact look-alikes, I already said that Goldmoon can be more native and that the Majeres could be hispanic, I only ruled out black and asian for the main actors (not Krynn…)

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

No, I agree that good stories can have a mix of people of all kinds of types, or predominantly white, predominantly black, etc. My point is that having a diverse cast is not what makes it a good story. The ‘for modern audiences’ bit to me overemphasize diversity and neglects everything else...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I meant that at least one of them needs to be present at basically all times if you want to interfere with the ability to long rest at will anywhere, not necessarily the narrative time pressure each time

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

sometimes they have it sure, it’s not that it cannot be done, it’s that it has to be done. As I said my issue is how much damage LTH can withstand, if it fell apart after a few hits things would be different

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

no, probably no coincidence, but it still is generic enough that it is basically just religious tropes that you can map onto many religions. The cataclysm being a stand-in for a flood is easy, and those exist in many religions and myths

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

eh, you can map much of it to a much more widespread one just as well, and it all is pretty generic to boot, nothing that screams ‘this can only all be religion X, no other’

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

I do not need much real world religious stuff at all. The gods have disappeared centuries ago, there was no healing magic since. A group of adventurers finds some ancient texts in a ruin that tell of the long forgotten gods and as it so happens bring back that knowledge along with healing magic...

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

Goldmoon is not saving the natives in the first place, that is not her role or the story of DL / Chronicles I already wrote that she can be native and does not need to be caucasian looking.

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

SG plays in modern times in the US, that makes it pretty straightforward to have a diverse cast, it accurately represents the world it is portraying. It also does not have an established history in which the main cast is a certain ethnicity that the show decided to go against either.

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

I always saw that more as the elf / ranger thing than a native american thing, but I agree, it certainly can be seen that way too they should, he can dress like Aragorn in Bree without truly changing anything relevant

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

I believe the whole 'for modern audiences' is way overrated. Modern audiences do not just watch shows where the cast is all colors of the rainbow and half of them are non-cis. Maybe I am out of touch, but I believe a good story is more important than 'forced diversity', even for modern audiences.

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

lol, forgot about that one. Original in an extended universe kind of sense, not even a Weis/Hickman book, let alone from the Chronicles trilogy we are kinda expecting / discussing here

2024 D&D Core Rulebooks Off to "Strongest-Ever" Start for D&D Books

I do not have a quote for you, but it had been mentioned a few times on these forums. I also doubt WotC would publicly say that this was the rationale for the recategorization Let’s turn this around, can you think of another reason for it, let alone a better one?

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

they are, but they are somewhat based on existing peoples, esp. the main characters are pretty well defined ethnically, I never said anything about the rest of Krynn why would he she can have lighter hair, no need to go all out blond imo yep, I would have no issues with the knights of...

D&D General What Are Dragonlance's Weis & Hickman, and Actor Manganiello Cooking Up?

It isn't, we have two natives and two (three with Kitiara) that I said could be hispanic. I only said none of the main cast are black or asian. Also, I am not seeing it as repulsive, Vikings are white, Wakandans are black, the people in Chief of War are Hawaiian, etc. it does not always have to...
