    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Both are correct. There still exist races that have biological reproduction to them. Aasimar and Tieflings for example.

The bolded is flat out wrong as the default for D&D. You can run your game that way, but in D&D cross-breeding is pretty darn common.

I mean, they literally are a hybrid. "HALF-DRAGON A dragon’s magical nature allows it to breed with virtually any creature. Conception usually occurs while the dragon has changed its shape; it then abandons the crossbreed offspring."

While I can respect and understand your position, I don't share it. I don't want all the races to be that prominent. In my game they pretty much all exist, but a Tabaxi wandering into a town is going to draw attention due to the rarity of them. The same with Loxodon, Kenku and Firbolgs. With...

    They really should be.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Yep. That's why they don't exist as a playable PC race in my game. Dragons are powerful. Whether through birth or dragon egg corruption, the blood of dragons would make the responding creature far more powerful than a normal halfling, elf or human. Dragonborn exist in my game, but are closer...

Half-dragons are much more powerful than Dragonborn and would not be a playable 5e race.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

Looks like someone may have you blocked. I was responding to a post that said that Poland's first official king was 1000 years ago, six centuries before the Americas were discovered.

    Netheril's Fall - First Impressions

1000 years ago would be 1025. Columbus "discovered" America in 1492, well short of 6 centuries. Vikings, however, discovered the Americas in 1021, 4 years before your king there. ;)

You play with them? I eat my cronuts.

About as many times as evil Aboleths or evil Mummies. Dragonborn are not a 5e element. They've been around for multiple editions now. You are wrong. Every time I add in a race to the Realms is adding an ingredient to the pizza sauce. It's not adding in a side drink, because it's now a core...

No. The PHB is default lore and is setting neutral, which is why it says how things are done in various settings out there. The default setting is the Realms, but that doesn't make the default core lore apply to the Realms. Those are two different defaults. Setting and core rules.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

Dragons CAN produce Dragonborn. Not Dragons ALWAYS DO produce Dragonborn. As I said earlier, it's a reasonable thing to make up, but it's not written Realms lore. Going only by what is written for the Realms, they are all from Tymanther. Sure. You can make that up. It's not written in the...

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

There is no squeeze. I can create a large island in the middle of the ocean, populate it with Ewoks, have some rebel scum and a Jedi land there to take out the force field generator, and then have a giant space battle over that island on a planet which they call the Moon of Endor, and nobody...

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

You don't need to shoehorn or "fit" Dragonborn into any official setting. Even the Forgotten Realms, which is by far the most detailed with lore, only spells out maybe 1% of the world's lore and population. I can drop in 100 new races and their lore without "fitting" or "shoehorning" them in...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

Perhaps in 4e. 1e, 2e, 3e and 5e have had crap for high level advice. I didn't play 4e, so I suppose there could have been some there.

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

And? How does that in any way contradict what I just said? There have been just as many decades with no guidance for high level play. More in fact. There has never been guidance on how to run high level games.

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

It is lore. It's not much. Almost nothing in fact, but it is lore and it informs us on where we can find Dragonborn. I'd leverage the Flaming Fists if I were playing a Dragonborn in Baldur's Gate and I didn't want to create a different mercenary company. The odds of no Dragonborn being among...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

I'm not holding my breath, or even arguing that they will do it(poorly or well). I'm simply saying that it's a self-fulfilling prophecy not to provide guidance for high level play and then say, "Look! No one is playing high level!" They've created that situation through their lack of high...
