D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

    i could appreciate the idea of +crit chance(vicious), +crit damage(brutal) and +to hit(accurate) masteries

D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer vs. Wizard: Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better?

i guess i'm just not seeing that the things you're claiming as problems are actually issues, having your most used spells transmuted is i feel less of a vertical move in power and more of a horizontal one as well as being one that very much feeds into the flavour of the subclass, so i'm not...

D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer vs. Wizard: Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better?

hmmm, PB uses of free [associated element] transmuted spell feels a little toothless to me (if i understood correctly what you were suggesting), maybe split the difference and say you get to pick PB number of specific spells that you can always transmute to your element free of cost?

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

personally i can't say i love the limited daily flight time, it's one of the things i disliked about the energy wings, if a creature has the capability to fly under it's own steam then i don't think that's something they would only be able to do once a day, something i've written up previously...

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

when i think of what makes a dragon-man my first thought is absolutely not giving them four arms, Wizards needs to figure out to balance physical wings and not this energy-wing nonsense. i can appreciate trying to distinguish dragonborn and lizardfolk though but this is not the way i would try...

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

to be fair i didn't say that was what it is but what it's trying/wanting to be.

from what i know of john wick (admittedly only vague knowledge) i'd say it's half of what a high level fighter is trying/wants to be, the other half is MCU hulk/thor-esc physical capability. but that's a conversational rabbit hole i'm not looking to open up again in this thread right now.

D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer vs. Wizard: Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better?

while i also think that wizard could pretty much just get absorbed and have it's role served by one well-constructed sorcerer subclass with a spellbook feature i do think wizard and sorcerer are different, however i do think they needed to lean much harder into integrating metamagic into the...

D&D 5E (2024) What are the "Martial" Styles

elaborating on how i'd classify these TECHNIQUE focusing on mastery of your physical form and combat skills. ability examples include: fighting styles, weapon masteries, martial arts/ki-empowered strikes and piercer/crusher/slasher feats. subclass examples include: battlemaster fighter, kensei...

    D&D 5E (2024) Solasta 2 and the 1/2 elf

admittedly, humans have consistently been one of the ones to not get any form of special vision or senses though, right? so tannis having it is somewhat notable to making him more than just a baseline human, plus those novels weren't written for 'modern DnD' they were for, what? 3.5e? i haven't...

D&D 5E (2024) What are the "Martial" Styles

interesting thread though i'm a little unsure of the endgoal, i think i'd just go with three: technique(covering both your martial and discipline), brute and trickery.

for the manipulee, yes, for the manipulator it's a big fat nothing isn't it?

this sole last paragraph provides degrees more illumination on how things work than that entire liveplay snippet besides the few things i could pick out about there being convince conflicts? in which relate to ranks of precedence that determine who can usually order who around and something...

does anyone have any examples they could bring to the discussion of how social mechanics are implemented in some games other than DnD? i'm seems they manage to not make it mind control in other systems, or at least i never hear complaints of it being so...

D&D General Wearing a lantern on your belt?

in the interest of not making the martial alternative to a cantrip vastly inferior yes you can wear them on your belt, however things like the lantern of revealing would actively need to be held because...otherwise they don't properly shed their light on things to reveal them say, you can wear...

maybe if TBIF were actually used it would be able to mitigate DMs 'forcing' PCs to act out of character, you establish something in your TBIF and if some social check or supernatural effect is trying to make a character act contrary to their nature the player gets to point to their relevant...

we're not talking about morale rolls here, we're talking about failing attack rolls and enemy's making saving throws and thus being forced to miss or not effect them with a spell. ;)

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

what about when 'it's not in character for my character to do that' is actually saying something closer to 'it's not what i want my character to do'? i may not want my character to miss attacks against their opponent but that doesn't mean i don't have to make attack rolls, hey! they've been...
