TTRPG players wanted for online psychology study

Similarly for me, playing since 1981... 45 years I do like the way there are questions to ensure you're reading the directions.

Yes. At least occasionally. It's part of the genre, so it's included in the game.

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

For me, I'd class "modern" as Focus upon genre reinforcement and player experience, probably has more metacurrencies than just Experience. Also, modern systems tend to not be physics simulations. Which is unhelpfully wide.

Star Wars WEG D6 - The Force Point - "Is it a good thing?"

MG has three metacurrencies, only two of which are shared with BW/Burning Empires, which also have 3. MG has Fate and Persona, and checks. Fate open-ends 6's, persona is used prior to rolling to add a die. Advancement is based upon successes and failures. Checks are used to get player turns in...

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

See, I've run Tales From the Loop and Vaesen... they're pretty close, mechanically. Close enough that swapping one to the other would be a nuisance due to minor differences . Tales and Things from the Flood are almost identical except for the age related mechanics. I've also run Alien, Blade...

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

L5R prior to FFG uses fixed number ranges and expects tokens on the map if not minis on the terrain, but notes TOTM is doable (and usually, it is). Most don't use that, but it's there. L5R 5 is the only one with Range Bands... and it includes an option for grid based.

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

I'll raise and offer up a bunch that are more complex than AD&D... many from the AD&D 2e era, some the 1e era. And T5? Marc's been working on it since 2014... and has the core out... Tucholka's TriTac system... many many complex rules, in smaller print, with less art, and while better...

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

It does enough different that it's effectively bespoke. You never roll more than 3d... but what size matters, using d6/d8/d10/d12 by att and by skill, 6-9 is 1 success, 10+ is 2. Standard YZE is always d6's. So far, only T2K and BR use step dice, but even they are significantly different from...

Star Wars WEG D6 - The Force Point - "Is it a good thing?"

None of my campaigns lasted more than 8 months. There have been a lot of them. Peak skills in the 6-8 dice range. The force points never bugged me. They never caused a negative reaction in play. And they almost always succeeded when using them; the one time I recall them failing was a perfectly...

Star Wars WEG D6 - The Force Point - "Is it a good thing?"

I've several campaign-years of WEG SW under my belt (about 7-8), never had a problem with them being overpowered...

    RuneQuest and Glorantha ideas

You're wrong on that score Not a clearly listed one. Looking at the characters, they have the weapons they are skilled in. Very straightforward for a game of the era for characters' gear being by GM fiat.

I've played a demo. I've bought the books in PDF. I hope a foundary module is forthcoming.

    Amazon is on backorder again.

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

I suspect that its ranking is being suppressed by lack of supply… The Amazon rankings are based upon sales made; if the demand can't be met, it can't reflect the demand, only the supply. So Darrington has to play chicken with overstocking.

Freebies, Sales, and Charity Bundles for September 28, 2025

Race as class didn't come into D&D until 1981... 7 years later and being the 4th version (5th if one distinguishes 1974 original from '76 with the 1976 supplements - almost AD&D. If you're writing that portion of the copy, it's misleading.

It's ad-copy like this that say, "The blurb writer does not know Original D&D" Nor Holmes, nor AD&D... all of which lack racial classes.

Does the Death Curve Beat the Death Spiral?

EABA v1 also has that. Note: I was a playtester on v1 and v2. I dropped out of the v2 playtest due to the variable time combat rounds; I haven't checked my copy of v2 release.

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

I think you think Daggerheart is higher complexity than it actually is. on a 0 (FK) to 5 (Tucholka/Tri-Tac), Pathfinder is about 3.0 in both editions' core. Even the decidedly over-complex Traveller-5 is only about a 4.5 compared to the various Tri-Tac games, or to BTRC's Space/Time or...
