    D&D 5E (2014) Are you buying less 5e Material?

The last book I bought was Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. I bought the Wildemount book to read it (not run it) and before that I think it goes all the way back to Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes. I bought most of the books that they released in the first few years: core books, campaign guides and...

A Review of Vampire The Masquerade: Winter’s Teeth

I've read and dabbled in the setting of World of Darkness, but Vampire: the Masquerade V5 is my first actual RPG! It's really interesting that they designed all these other supernatural creatures RPG to inhabit the same universe, but I have attachment to them. I might take interest if they...

A Review of Vampire The Masquerade: Winter’s Teeth

I didn't know that! I'm excited for it. But back to Winter's Teeth. I'd also recommend it. I own both compilation volumes and they're a good read. There's going to be a follow-up focusing on Werewolves in the same area (twin cities) called Crimson Thaw.

A Review of Vampire The Masquerade: Winter’s Teeth

They released a new edition (5th) in 2018. They're released Hunter the Reckoning 5th edition and Werewolf the Apocalypse 5th edition soon. They've released like three video games in the last few months or so. There's this comic and another one comic soon (Crimson Thaw), and they also released a...

Starfinder Starfinder video game might be incoming?

The things you mention are not handled by the engine per say, but by tools and systems built inside it. An engine takes care of things that are much more low-level than this: data handling, rendering, physics, audio, profiling, level creation, possibly networking, etc. For example, the...

Starfinder Starfinder video game might be incoming?

They wouldn't have to rebuild their engine. An engine would have no bearings on matters as precise as how actions in combat or skills work; these are systems. They would have to rework several systems.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Arora, Everyday Heroes, Bloodpunk, and more

I'm not sure how good of a title "A Good Book for Bad GMs" is. I consider myself at least an adequate GM, but if I was new to the hobby, I certainly wouldn't be tempted by a book with such a title.

TSR Am I The Only One Buying Up the DMs Guild Reprints?

What would be your top recommendations then for someone that started playing when 3E came out?

TSR Am I The Only One Buying Up the DMs Guild Reprints?

I've started slowly buying some of the books from editions I've never played! Last year I bought the Campaign Guide to Planescape and the books of Planes of Chaos, Planes of Law and Planes of Conflict. I'm not sure what I'll buy this year, there's so much stuff! I don't think it's for play and...

The TOO MUCH SETTING issue (SPIRE reviewed by SU&SD)

I played a bit of Spire and I kind of agree. The game has other qualities, but its very evocative and rich setting is, in my opinion, it's biggest one. But fully appreciate it, you have to dive in. I love lore, so for me as a player it was easy to just read through all the lore sections a few...

    D&D 5E (2014) What is Quality?

I've read bits of this thread. There seems to be confusion between people (or even yourself) enjoying something and that thing being of quality. There's products (novels, books, etc) that I deeply enjoy even though I know they're not high quality. And there's the opposite, products of great...

What lessons did you learn from other systems?

I was thinking about the other thread about our buying habits for RPG products; and tonight I just finished my second session ever of Forbidden Lands and I was reflecting on what I found difficult, easy, good, bad and what I learned from my experience. I'm sure we all pulled some lessons or...

    Buying to not use

I won't lie, buying games became my way of compensating for not being able to play them during the first two years of the pandemic, so I kind of broke my own rules. But here's my list, do not that some of these categories overlap. There's games I intend to run. My bookcase is full of them. I...

    Does TSR3 Have Nazi Connections?

I can understand individuals having certain experiences, or upbringings and ending up have a disdain against a specific group. You don't excuse it, you don't approve it, but you can rationally understand. But I honestly cannot fathom being so full of hate against so many people. The amount of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Don't make the game too weird

It's easier to get add weirdness into your game as it progresses and remove some. So I'd say, start with a more conservative scenario and simply poll them after each session to make sure the level of weirdness is good.

    Twitter is a poor place

I took a full day to ponder on this and talked with an anglophone colleague of mine. He echoed what you said. And now that I'm thinking back on it, it absolutely was too strong of a statement. It wasn't my intention to come off like this, but it's still what happened and what I projected. I...

    Twitter is a poor place

Then what does it mean? My understanding is that being disingenuous is making statement or acting by putting aside relevant information that you do know. I guess it could be viewed as a form of dishonesty? Like I'd tell someone is disingenuous if they omit some relevant information that they...

    Twitter is a poor place

Given that what I covered is neither social medias nor just straight investing, I don't see the problem. I didn't leave half of it. He didn't just pump his inherited wealth like most wealth investors do. As I said, what he does and does well is much more strategic in nature. My reply is a...

    Twitter is a poor place

He's not my favorite person, but it's disingenous to say he's only good at social medias. Much of his success has been from smart business moves, notably shifting technology and knowledge between different product lines to jump ahead technology or fix inherent problems. Putting the rockets...

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

The layout of the core rulebook especially is really bad. I saw something compare it to the layout in a fashion magazine and I see it now. It's really, really bad. Good for casually reading through, terrible for using at the table. I've found the latest releases by Renegade Studios to be a...
