TSR The Cult of Abaddon - Release from NuTSR/TheEvilDM

Most of the time, I'm very critical of my own level of English as it is not my mother tongue and think that I might not have the editing skills to get something to a publishable state. And then I see this, which will sell probably more copies than I would dream for my own projects:

D&D General Critical Role: Overrated, Underrated, or Goldilocks?

I'll have to agree with @Deset Gled . Calling out for the rogue to come and open a door because your character has clumsy hands is not playing into the mechanics, it makes total sense in the fiction. There's other examples of things that the characters couldn't really know, or wouldn't...

    How do you handle evil?

You're absolutely right! You found better words than me to explain it :)

    How do you handle evil?

I allow evil characters. But I generally discourage it for new or inexperienced players. There's also certain type of tables were I won't really allow it. But if I know that I have mature players that already have a few roleplay experiences under their belt, I allow it. The thing with evil...

[poll] which cover do you like best?

The art for the Fey Court one is pretty cool, but the composition doesn't work really well for the cover. Everything is squished, it's crowded between the edges and the logo that takes a lot of place. The other two work much better. But as personal preference, I voted Wild Hunt.

    Torchbearer 2nd ed: first impressions

I've recently purchased Burning Wheel and am still only halfway through the books. I've been curious about Torchbearer, but what exactly it is still hasn't fully jelled in my mind.

    Your blog recommendations

Hi! Going through blogs about TTRPGs is something I really enjoy and I'll frequently find an article from one I don't know about and add it to my feed. So I thought, why not see what other people have to recommend. I'm personally really interested in blogs that talk about TTRPGs as a whole...

Is The One Ring 2E Kickstarter going to break the records?

I own many Free League products, but I didn't back this one. But it's crazy how beautiful and of high quality their print and products are. They are, in my opinion, well beyond the rest of the industry. Whenever I stop at my local store and compare books to books, the quality of the prints...

    D&D 5E (2024) Will you buy 5.5e/6e PHB?

We know near to nothing about it. I can't really have made a decision. But I'm most likely done with 5E as a whole, I've been diving in other games.

Where do you like to see your art dollars in a ttrpg book?

I often don't really notice when art is put at the right place, but I notice when it is lacking. One thing that irritates me is when a TTRPG book has a list of equipment (especially weapons) and only has art for a portion of them. This is even more frustrating when it's not your usual Broadsword...

    What'd everyone get?

We postponed meeting and exchanging gifts because of COVID. Met with some family yesterday. My dad surprised me and bought me the Edge of the Empire Core Rulebook for FFG Star Wars because he heard me one time, a year ago, say I'd like to own it. Pretty cool!

D&D 5E (2014) Dark Souls is coming to 5th Edition

Essh... nothing against 5E, but Dark Souls is a unique beast that would have required something a bit different in my opinion. It's a game with such a rich content and lore. I'll wait and see what they do, maybe it'll be pretty different?

Burning Wheel; what type of settings or stories is it good for?

Can you expand a bit on that? What is Universalis? It's been a joy to read through so far. You're right that I'm both a bit intimidated by the crunchiness, but more so because it's a different crunchiness than most TTRPGs; and excited because there's plenty of great ideas here. Most...

Burning Wheel; what type of settings or stories is it good for?

Hi! I recently purchased Burning Wheel because I've been hearing so much about it. I'm about 2/3rd through my first reading. So far I'm loving it, it's very different to many games coming out lately and it's from a tabletop style of play that I'm not too familiar with. It's obvious that it is a...

D&D 5E (2014) Mordenkainen Presents Monsters of the Multiverse: An In-Depth Review

I own both Mordekainen and Volo. Every bit of this book that I've seen is mostly material I have already purchased. The revamped or streamlined stat block are really not that different. I wouldn't make a difference at my table. And anyway, there's plenty of monsters of 5E that I still haven't...

D&D General What D&D reflects today, media wise...

DotA (or Defense of the Ancients) is a mod that was created using the modding tools of Warcraft 3. It used the heroes, items and assets of the game to popularize a new genre (MOBAs, or Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas) where typically two teams of five players, each controlling one hero, split...
