    I made a terrible life decision…

Yeah, it's really not meant as a box for storage. It also opens at one end and you have to "pour out" the stuff, rather than having a typical box lid. Very much a use-and-forget type of box.

    Pulp RPGs General Thread [+]

TORG is fairly pulp-ish in its default mode (though perhaps it's more appropriate to call it "action movie"-oriented), but has the Nile Empire as an extremely pulpy sub-setting with overtones of Egyptian mythology. You misspelled BRIAN BLESSED. His name should always be written in capital letters.

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

The problem is that it front-loads the cost something fierce. Even looking at a single skill/branch. In regular GURPS, getting a skill to stat+0 costs 2 points. In Skill Trees, it costs 15. That is not a small difference. And supposedly, it's balanced out because stat+10 normally costs 40 points...

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

I took a look at that and... whatever possessed them to base the costs around having skills at ~25? I mean, sure, there is a sidebar about how you can change it to having the baseline be something higher than stat-5, but still? At least in my, admittedly limited, experience, the main issue with...

Oooh, even better: page count, but alphabetically. So 80 before 432 before 128 before 16 before 272...

    GURPS settings appreciation thread

I'll copy over my post from the other thread. GURPS Technomancer is a nice bit of genius IMO. It's just too bad it's extremely strongly tied to the GURPS system. The idea is that the first nuclear test explosion created some kind of rift that increases the ambient mana in the world, turning...

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

GURPS Technomancer is a nice bit of genius IMO. It's just too bad it's extremely strongly tied to the GURPS system. The idea is that the first nuclear test explosion created some kind of rift that increases the ambient mana in the world, turning the world from the "normal" low-mana real world...

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

I'm pretty sure GURPS 3e had a specific mention of how getting around Cannot Speak/Mute via telepathy meant you didn't get any points for Cannot Speak (but I can't be bothered to look it up). I did check 4e and it does not have such a mention, and it even implies that compensating for it is OK –...

    GURPS 4th Edition Revised Announced

TORG, in addition to having Possibilities as metacurrency as well as cards that let PCs influence things, has built-in narrative mechanics. The biggest is that each invading realm has its own Axioms and World Laws. Axioms determine how advanced that realm is in various ways (Spiritual, Magical...

    Hours actually playing RPGs, non-D&D?

My main group is, in theory, playing three hours a week. We often get started a little late so call it 2½. We sometimes have to cancel because too many people have other things come up, but we've easily played more than 3/4 of the 43 weeks so far this year so call it 32 x 2.5 = 80 hours. This...

D&D General Why Enworld should liberate D&D from Hasbro

I'm not sure it's about edgy characters. Well, that's part of it, but I also think that the players who do like to play fundamentally good-hearted characters like playing characters who choose good. They aren't good because they have some kind of inherent good instincts inherited from celestial...
