    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

If you are not using your spells or taking feats specifically for melee support Bladesinger certainly won't be better at level 7 assuming point buy abilities. The fighter will have way more hps (2 per level plus more due to a higher Constitution), a comparable AC, same extra attack, one more...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

Here is the verbiage from FR:HOF "You can invoke the Bladesong a number of times equal to your Intelligence modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest. You regain one expended use when you use Arcane Recovery." So you are not going to typically...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

I think Wisdom proficiency is a lot more valuable than Constitution or Dexterity. This is especially true since a Bladesinger is probably dumping Wisdom (unless you are mutliclassing to Ranger). I realize that Constitution is what is used for concentration checks, but those are usually easy...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

I don't think this is accurate, at least not right out of the box. Eldritch Knight gets a better extra attack than Bladesinger at every level except 6. Better at 5 and better at 7+. It is much better at level 11+ and this is amplified by the fact that EKs also get to use better weapons, get...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

You can't do it 6 times a day as a single class Wizard until quite a while after level 20. That requires a 22 Intelligence, which would mean 2 Epic Boons. For most of tier 1 and tier 2 on point buy you will be at 3 or 4 uses on a point buy Wizard.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

Bladesong beats Barbarian rage most of the time IMO.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

This is a play choice, not a design problem IMO. I am not going to argue that attacking is more effective than using a spell slot offensively. You may have a point there, but the game is not about doing what is the most powerful. A Bladesinger can be an extremely effective melee character...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

Only when they are in Bladesong, which is a boost, but is not all the time especially in tier 1-2.

D&D 5E (2024) GMs: How long should it usually take to go from level 1 to 4?

Hmm it seems I can change my vote .... not that I tried. 2 sessions on average for a milestone game, 3 sessions more often than 1 session but 1 session more often than 4. Probably 3 sessions on average if you are playing an XP game. Assumes sessions are 4 hours of play. If you are playing an...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on New Bladesinger?

IF you play a weapons-first bladesinger being able to use Intelligence for attacks is a pretty big buff as it lets you concentrate on Intel. If you are wanting a Wizard with some defense then it is not a big deal. The big thing the new bladesinger lacks is weapon mastery. With a 1-level...

Truestrike is a pretty good substitute.

    D&D 5E (2024) Maximum inspiration build?

I have played more Fey Wanderers than any other subclass in the game. I think the ultimate single class Dragon Cultist build is probably a Aasimar Fey Wanderer. Fey Wanderer is one of the best controllers in the game in tier 2 and tier 3 and can be the best face in the game bar none...

D&D 5E (2024) Rogue: Thief. Bonus Action Magic Item?

Wand of Fear is what would be #1 on my list, Wand of Paralysis probably #2.

    D&D 5E (2024) Maximum inspiration build?

Sure, but that is only one inspiration - so one reroll. Just seems like a lot for minimum gain. Also keep in mind it needs a short rest recharge to use it again, so unless you can go in frighten someone, come out and short rest, go in frighten someone, come out and short rest ..... If you...

    D&D 5E (2024) Maximum inspiration build?

One issue with it on a Warlock is the Wisdom save, and it is also once a short rest. A better choice might be the fear spell. Also, although this is a neat trick, Invisibility does not work well with the Frightened condition, so you are spending a lot of resources on two things that are...

D&D 5E (2014) Share your Dnd "Moments that Matter"

A few moments: 1. Playing a 13th level Goblin Enchantment Wizard, we are getting our but kicked in the campaign final battle. I misty stepped right up next to the BBEG and broke my Staff of Power. I killed myself, didn't kill the BBEG, but severely weakened him to where the rest of the party...

    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

Recently with DALL-E I've had a bunch of images blocked for being "unsafe content" An example is the prompt: Female Aasimar warrior with yellow eyes and blond hair Anyone else having these issues and know how to resolve it?

Unearthed Arcana WOTC still can't get the backgrounds right in the new FR book.

We are looking at the best backgrounds vs the worst aren't we? The best background for this provides Strength and Constitution (and feats which I am not even using). You claimed that the ASIs you get with the background are almost irrelevant, but you won't let me use the best two backgrounds...

Unearthed Arcana WOTC still can't get the backgrounds right in the new FR book.

No, but both of them would show little change in party effectiveness if I tested them in a group of PCs who were unchanged. In terms of measurables, they would actually be pretty close if tested as you propose, which illustrates why this is not a good test method. I don't have a simulator. I...

Unearthed Arcana WOTC still can't get the backgrounds right in the new FR book.

It wasn't my example, I just provided the actual math for it (and the 7hp Goblin).
