Does it happen often? No. I don't encourage it, the players tend to avoid doing it themselves. When it DOES happen, I'm sort of forced to up my energy and bounce between both groups to keep them engaged... and you can be sure that if one group gets into a combat, the other is going to as well...

Honestly the biggest surprise to me here is that someone is basing their investments off of DnD's performance, with regards to Hasbro's value. WotC is its lions' share of value, yeah, but MtG is what makes WotC's money. I'm sure hoping to get more value out of the DnD brand is a factor, but...

In my mind, "old" comfortably sits in the 80s and earlier. When we get to the 90s, yes at this point it's older media 'cuz it's 2025, but I guess it wasn't old to me. Farscape came out in the late 90s but I'd grapple with calling it old.

Are there recommendations on how to treat/count these sidekicks for challenge purposes? For example, iirc MCDM's pets from Flee Mortals! are suggested to count as a powerful magic item, and for the party to not have more than one of them.
