That's a good question. Based on when it's supposed to happen, as it was in TOS, it would be a bit of a time skip to get to it. That said, they have played more than a little fast & loose with that timeline anyway.

My eyes have gotten worse with time and, likely, type 2 diabetes, but at the time I was learning to shoot I had 20/20 or better vision. My distance vision, in particular, was excellent.

For me it was public school around '66/'67. I then became the Judas goat for another kid, who was a leftie. I didn't think that there were morons around today who still did that crap.

Focusing all of the light from the Sun over a 5 inch diameter into a single spot can start a fire. I imagine focusing all the light from a 12,000Km+ diameter would be... something worse.

I'm old enough that I was one of those lefties who was smacked on the back of the hand every time that I picked up a pen in my left hand. As a result I'm a terrible right-handed writer and have a mix of things that I do right or left handed. I didn't get the ambidextrous perk.

And us just going to space had a huge effect on science, medicine, and even food. Seeing how others do it would be, as I said, transformative.
