This is only in games where the DM doesn't have a holistic world. I've played in lots of games where wealth is useful. But the more you restrict the game to simply combat with only the Items the DM wants you to have the less useful the wealth becomes. That has been a problem with the game...

that's pathfinder though. Good choices and bad choices so the player get to decide. PF2e is a bit better than 1e but it still suffers from the plethora of bad or so-so choices that simply don't measure up to the few things that are generically useful.

Not wanting to go back to 1e but I always liked the segments for spell casting and if you took damage you either lost the spell (gygax way), or had to start over (some table rules I played). I think that was better than concentration which just sucks all the way around. that and memorization...

noted on who casts the similcrum. but doesn't change anything fundamental about how it's only an issue at that level if the DM lets you do whatever you want without consequences. If it's a game where the gods let you cast unlimited wishes without consequence then have at it.

But again 3 pit fiends sharing wishes dead wizard. God of magic cuts you off, Turns you into a Djinn and you can cast unlimited wishes for other people etc. the abuse only works if the DM is into being abused. It's a non issue at that level.

So for the loop to work you have to be over level 20 which by 5e is the max level. So again at 20th level you have to cast your wish spell which then you don't have memorized so your simalcrum doesn't have it memorized. Assuming we are going by the rule you stated that the silmacrum is exactly...

well not all tables get to have experienced players that are "hardcore" and know their stuff. And at some tables I've played at push the Analysis paralysis players too hard and you don't have a table anymore. Sometimes you get what you get.

That's fair but in general companies in the modern age are so hung up on beating everyone else to publish they don't test like they used too. But I'll give you that DND is far bigger than it's ever been before so testing for all types of play may be a bit much.

what i've found over the years is that most players I've played with get slower the more options they have. The min maxers and detail oriented ones seem to be the worst. I'm sure a lot of the blame is on DM's me included that let them take so much time but also if a lot of high level spells...

I think the fun if you play through a campaign to that level is all that slow boring play is rewarded by the PC's changing things and setting the stage for the next game. (Hopefully). Or at least getting to finish. But very good point. High level play can be painfully slow. I played in...
