Hasbro Opens New Wizards of the Coast Video Game Studio in Montreal to Support D&D Franchise

the way WotC does it yes, it’s at least as much marketing as it is playtesting

What Do You Think Of As "Modern TTRPG Mechanics"?

Modern to me is more focused on narrativist and/or gamist elements while ‘old’ is more simulationist. fail forward, multiple levels of success, clocks, playbooks, metacurrencies there are both old and modern games released today, so no clear line in time at least Not sure if I would say PbtA...

Hasbro Opens New Wizards of the Coast Video Game Studio in Montreal to Support D&D Franchise

Flashbacks to TSR buying a needlework company... As a licensed product fine, why not, apparently anything goes anyway (it's certainly no worse than beer or gambling, ...). As an actual WotC product it would show a distinct lack of ideas to add to whatever their release schedule is

If this is a real release for 2026, then maybe they really shouldn't make more ;)

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

not sure how that was later, it was the very last exchange you two had, after you avoided answering repeatedly on the pages before it it isn’t, no one was questioning that. The question was and you still have not answered it

Hasbro Opens New Wizards of the Coast Video Game Studio in Montreal to Support D&D Franchise

sure, but that doesn’t mean it does not exist, and it can easily explain why some people want more WotC products despite there being so many 5e products Heck, the majority of products I have are 3pp, not just in number but also in total price, and I still would like to see WotC release more per...

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

probably because you consistently refused to answer their question…

Hasbro Opens New Wizards of the Coast Video Game Studio in Montreal to Support D&D Franchise

there is a big difference between wanting more WotC material and wanting more 5e material. Most people never get anything from DMsGuild or 3pps in general. You can pretend that is not the case, but that makes you miss the point

Unearthed Arcana New Psion update, Dungeons and Dragons Unearthed Arcana

ugh, I do hope they want to bury that spell, not bring it back…

Daggerheart Class Packs kickstarter is live.

this is simple curiosity, how well is a given game doing, in this case Daggerheart. It has nothing to do with what games I want to play, otherwise Shadow of the Weird Wizard and Tales of the Valiant would not rank so high (and Talisman Adventures would not even make the list) ;) Apart from...

AD&D 1E Snarf's Challenge: Was it Possible to Play 1e RAW? SHARE YOUR STORIES!

maybe he should have, chances are we would have gotten more streamlined rules… I never even attempted to play RAW, while reading the books for the first time, I frequently made a mental note to not use some part at all because there was so much overhead involved

same, I usually stick to the core or at most one additional rulebook (like Xanathar’s). Beyond that I consider it bloat with diminishing returns. Given how few WotC released in the 10 years, they seem to share that reluctance

    Million Dollar TTRPG Kickstarter Club

I am not sure what premise you refer to, the one where the target price is a fraction of the actual internal target / required minimum? Yeah, I can see one man shops that are new to this be completely wrong about what their target should be and actually having a target of $1000 or whatever...

Hasbro Opens New Wizards of the Coast Video Game Studio in Montreal to Support D&D Franchise

I can see someone wanting 5 out of the 12 and buying only 3 or 4, but only 1 if they previously bought 3 out of 4 regularly? I can see someone who bought everything religiously lower their number of total purchases, much like I can see someone who only occasionally bought a book buying slightly...
