Game Balance, what is it to you, why is it important, and what if you all but threw it out?

I mean sure, if you don’t want your fellow gamers to have the awesome experience of fighting dragons. Kinda defeats the point for me, but it’s your game!

Level Up (A5E) A5E System Reference Document (A5ESRD)

Hacking and Psionics from Voidrunner' Codex were added just last week. I know because I spent 3 days doing it! :)

    Sales Information for TTRPGs

Most companies do not publish sales data (Evil Hat is a notable exception to this). You can infer some limited information -- such as what 'metal award' bracket something is in on DTRPG, an Amazon ranking, or what it raised on Kickstarter -- but those aren't solid numbers and there's no way to...

Tolkien’s Writing Desk on Auction at Christie's

No. The original art is worth that. The Warhammer box set is worth about £30.

Spoilers Hey look, there's a new Robin Hood show coming with Sean Bean as the Sheriff!

A random straggler casually gives up their way of life and joins the band every episode. As far as impulse decisions go, that's a heckuva life choice. So we have -- Little John, and Friar Tuck. Much the Miller's son is replaced by [whatsername?]. No Alan-a-Dale or Will Scarlet yet. Plus...

Tolkien’s Writing Desk on Auction at Christie's

You wouldn’t own the rights to give to anybody. Copyright laws do not work on a “finders keepers” model.

    Do you observe Thanksgiving?

Correct. We need a “Do you observe Boxing Day?” thread. I suspect it would be simpler to just combine them all into a general “Are you American?” thread, though I can give you those percentages without the need for a poll. :)

    Do you observe Thanksgiving?

Why would it be? Similarly, Americans don't observe the UK's Guy Fawkes Night, Sweden's Walpurgis Night, or German Unity Day. Or 300 other important cultural holidays across the world. American Thanksgiving is just a local custom observed by about 5% of people.

    Ken Burns' The American Revolution

I haven't watched this, but let me leave this warning: no politics. If you can't talk about it without talking about politics, don't talk about it.

    Ravenloft, the Movie

That gets you the tiny D&D audience, and probably makes the mainstream audience think “huh, that’s weird, why did they change Van Helsing into a hobbit?” — I just don’t see a reason to do it from the Hollywood POV. It would come across like those gimmicky comedy rip-off horror films to anybody...

    Ravenloft, the Movie

Why wouldn’t they use Dracula, a similar but much better known and more popular—and copyright free—IP? There’s no advantage in using a more obscure vampire in a big gothic castle pining after a lost love in a Transylvania-esque land. You don’t need to use the lesser-known D&D version of Dracula...

    New "Stargate" series announced

No, I mean it was literally based on Joss Whedon's Traveller campaign. Obviously he took poetic license when he made the TV show--he was replicating the campaign setting, not the game rules.
