Well there’s a lot fewer movies than TV episodes. There’s only three movie ‘series’. There’s, what,10 shows? More?

But remember, Tolkien was NOT a major influence on D&D. Despite the elves, dwarves, hobbits, ents, balrogs, wraiths, and Arag… erm I mean ranger. No sirrey! No influence here! Honest, guv! (Said a guy who had been threatened with a lawsuit by the Tolkien estate).

This confuses me. Star Trek has been bombarded with new characters since it started. I couldn’t begin to name them all. Multiple entire crews. I don’t have a list of Star Trek main characters handy, but I bet it it’s in the multiple dozens.

I like two of those films. Not as much as Khan or Voyage Home, but I like them.

I never really got the love for First Contact. It’s… OK. It has the benefit of being the only non-awful TNG movie, I suppose.

Hah. Not only is it my favourite Trek, it's one of my favourite movies of all time. (I will concede it is not the best Trek... but it is the one I enjoy the most).

I'm not convinced by the argument that 5E "needs" one. The fact that despite not having one, the fact that it's the most successful edition of D&D ever suggests to me the opposite--that it doesn't need one.

It’s a comedy, and it’s my favourite Trek movie. It needs Wrath of Khan for the contrast though. If Trek was all TVH it wouldn’t work (for me).

I did wonder why they needed sirens when the emergency services arrived to help--surely everybody knows what's going on? No sirens needed. People whose jobs are no longer relevant will presumably just do something else to help society be more efficient. The soldiers are now farming, etc...

Episode 3. Not a lot happened. It established two things: 1) They intended to assimilate Carol and nothing will stop that. 2) In the meantime they will do anything, up to and including giving her nuclear weapons, to keep her happy. Thoughts—an unhappy Carol kills them in the millions just...

I'm not sure I want Star Trek to be a flat-out comedy, though. It worked for D&D (which had a choice--be LotR or a comedy) but I don't want mainstream Trek to be that.
