D&D General Your last adventure in photos.

More pics from this week's adventure. More evil temple delving. Only had 3 players this week, which is very unusual. I cannot remember the last time I had less than 5 at the table. Our usual number is between 6 and 8. Next week, for example, I am pretty sure we will have 8 at the table. It...

sell me on a different system

I'll second Runequest. Skilled based. Setting is bronze age fantasy and you can play DUCKS! It has an awesome starter set you can get a lot of hours of play from.

D&D General Your last adventure in photos.

Finally remembered to snap a pic after our initial combat on Sunday. Combat took place as the PCs were emerging from desecrated temple (last week's adventure) into the ruins of a jungle city. The Big Dinosaur has just been polymorphed into a toad!

D&D 5E (2014) Best follow up for Rime of the Frost Maiden?

I love high level play, but I sadly have to agree with the folks above. There is an amazing lack of decent high level adventures for 5e. I mostly write my own and occasionally convert old Dungeon magazine adventures.

Where do you like to see your art dollars in a ttrpg book?

A good cover does impact my buying decision - I may as well admit it. I like monster illustrations. I like color, but black and white is fine. Pretty much everything else in the book I like to have illustrations of the characters in game. If we use D&D as an example - I would like pictures of...

Would you play in a campaign with racial/class limits of it fits the story?

I would be fine with restrictions as part of a campaign. Personally, I am more of a kitchen sink type DM as far as races and classes go. I used to be more restrictive, but as I have gotten older I have realized that players are very comfortable with a Mos Eisley Cantina situation. This is...

    Pogre's 2022 Miniatures and Models Thread - Today's Gaming set-up - A Classic D&D Adventure Site!

It was all hands on deck to get ready for the gaming session this Sunday. I took an old Reaper Bones Rauthuros Demon that I had lost the head to and converted it into a 4-armed gargoyle. I also painted a regular Reaper gargoyle: I told my son, Keegan, that I needed a Herald of Graz'zt. He...

D&D General DIY xps foam terrain. Videos? Pics? Advice?

Yep - it works fine for the most part. Can have a slightly yellow tint, but I usually add a tint of color - so it is not much of an issue.

    Pogre's 2022 Miniatures and Models Thread - Today's Gaming set-up - A Classic D&D Adventure Site!

This is fantastic. I have to find way to get my air brush area going again! I agree on the purple claws. That color choice is my least favorite part of the piece. but that is a very minor nitpick. I love this dragon!

D&D General DIY xps foam terrain. Videos? Pics? Advice?

For smaller areas I have used two-part epoxy. I have always wanted to try that tissue technique - I'm anxious to see how it works for you.

D&D General DIY xps foam terrain. Videos? Pics? Advice?

Glad the tiles are working better for you! I have used them for years on my projects - everything from Hirst Arts to river tiles. I have several pieces over 10 years old and the tile has held up well. It is possible to warp it - a couple of my sewer pieces warped after I stacked them on a shelf...

RPG Evolution: "Why is the Tarrasque on the Table?"

One of my players accidentally caught sight of the larger Graz'zt monster card I had out for the session. It certainly earned a raised eyebrow from him.

D&D General Do You Run Published Adventures, Homebrew Adventures, or Some of Both?

I used to run more published stuff when I switched to 5e, but I have a player in my campaign that runs every WOTC published adventure and AL module. That leaves me almost entirely homebrew these last couple of years - although I do slip in some 3rd party adventures from time-to-time.

Dang it! I forgot to snap a pic today. Oh well, in the spirit of keeping things rolling here is one of my favorite set-ups to kick off a campaign -I give you the Yawning Portal I promise - no more cheating with old pics. I'll try my best to remember at our next gaming session.

    Pogre's 2022 Miniatures and Models Thread - Today's Gaming set-up - A Classic D&D Adventure Site!

Just a trio of models this time. First up is an old school GW orc. Next is an interesting model - hopefully the inspiration for a D&D adventure or at least an encounter. Not sure if she will be an ally or enemy. I am calling her Queen of the Sea for now. Finally a character model my son...

D&D 5E (2014) My most basic advice for DMs who want more interesting & dynamic combat

I kind of love this idea... I run a pretty big table though. We pride ourselves on fast paced combat. How much has it slowed you down? Do your players get frustrated by the rule?

Has anyone got any flak for buildung a character that wasnt optimized?

I have only seen it at Adventure League. Nothing like what is in the OP, but folks frustrated by a build that is suboptimal and they view as weighing the party down. I think the nature of Adventure League lends itself to this cropping up more often.
