Reliquaries: Hand Painted Dice Thrones by Dwarven Forge

Mostly because I generally consider myself the audience for these and they fell very flat for me. I hope you are right and they are wildly successful. Dwarven Forge is one of my favorite companies!

Reliquaries: Hand Painted Dice Thrones by Dwarven Forge

So Dwarven Forge is running a Kickstarter for dice reliquaries. Reliquaries: Hand Painted Dice Thrones by Dwarven Forge Now, I love Dwarven Forge and I love ridiculous gaming accessories, but this is a complete swing and a miss. It seems like a crazy misstep for the company. I hope it is wildly...

D&D General The Grid vs. Theater of the Mind vs. a Mix [a poll & discussion]

We use miniatures and scenery, but do not use a grid (mostly). I never use a lined grid or mat to draw scenes on - I always use terrain. Some of that terrain comes with a grid - like master maze from Dwarven Forge or some of the pieces I build with Hirst Arts, or a few of the 3d printed pieces...

    If Gaming Wasn't Your Hobby...?

A lot more time fishing and I probably would still be hunting. Painting and drawing for certain.

D&D General Now You Can Buy Gygax & Arneson Miniatures!

The photo seems to show not great casts. There is a lot of pitting. That can sometimes be the result of using too much mold release or powder in the rubber mold. It can also be problems with the pewter. Or it could just be a bad picture - hard to say. There are ways to prep the minis if you...

    D&D 5E (2014) True Polymorph - Too powerful?

This is potentially the much larger issue than some spell in a fantasy game. I don't want to read too much into this, but I see no harm in saying, "Hey Ben, it was mildly amusing the first time, but now that joke is starting to annoy me. You want to lay off please?" If he is your friend he...

D&D General How Long Did You Play the Different Editions of D&D? (+)

O-D&D 1975-1979 1e 1979-1986 2e never played - we played WFRP instead. 3e/3.5e full run 4e Our group playtested 4e and I ran a campaign after this, but my group did not enjoy it and we switched to Pathfinder and WFRP for gaming 5e full run - Dove in on the playtesting of Next and have been...

D&D General Poll: What module do you want to see Goodman Games tackle next for Original Adventures Reincarnated?

UK2 and UK3 The sentinel and the gauntlet could easily be combined in one product and it is an enjoyable adventure line.

D&D General What are you prepping for your next D&D session? (+)

I have some work ahead of me. The Party has switched sides and has made a deal to join an orc army raiding the Southern Baronies in revenge for a raid on an orc village by an imperial noble. I thought they would talk the orcs out of attacking by doing a task for them. But, oh no, they decided...

Fizban's Treasury of Dragons: An In-Depth Review

I just wanted to make a quick comment to say thank you for the review. Your review of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight led me to buy a book I had no intention of even considering - and my players are having a blast with it. This review has convinced me this is a book I am not interested in for...

D&D General Your quick post-it-note DM reminder

"Let it go." Similar to many others - give over the game to the players' stories. Provide opportunities and expect to improvise. For a high-prep DM like me this is a good reminder. Prep is always useful, but a lot of times not for the session I prepped it for!

Anyone recall "Castlemaster", plaster mould making kit?

These show up on ebay from time to time, but they are almost never priced more cheaply than Hirst Arts molds.

D&D General What is YOUR GM style?

I would love to do that, but I have a few players driving in from a long distance. It is important that I get them back on the road in a timely manner. If we are heading towards a big encounter at the end of a session will pull them aside and ask if they want to go an extra 45 minutes or if they...

D&D 5E (2014) (Poll) I play 5e, and there are X players at the table.

I have 9 players in my campaign. However, it is rare that we have more than six at the table - so that is what I chose. I have players that drive from a long distance away and just cannot come every week.

D&D General What is YOUR GM style?

    1. Heavy prep. 2. Fast-paced. 3. Lots of combat challenges. 4. Memorable NPCs. 5. Be consistent and run the campaign for as long as the players have interest or we get to an epic level. 6. Be a cheerleader for the PCs. 7. Open rolling. 8. Try to listen and observe when players are the most...

Pretty much my list too. I would add movement charts -including overland travel rates.
