    D&D 5E (2014) Building a Better Ankheg

I have it too, and I remember liking it, but I don't think that I've looked at it in quite some time - and I probably should!

D&D 5E (2024) Just Because a location is not on the Atlas of Faerun doesn't mean its gone.

Looking at it, I have two questions for those longer familiar with the setting than I (I only know it well from 5e, so I know the Sword Coast, but not much else). 1) The Sea of Fallen Stars appears to be landlocked. So is it a really big lake, or is it a salty sea? Any story behind that? 2) I...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

She'd probably agree to that, but the only way out that you know of is through the Kobold Caves.

    D&D 5E (2014) Building a Better Ankheg

Let's ask some of our resident monster masters: @Nixlord, do you want to share an Ankheg from one of your books? @dave2008 have you made a properly designed solo version of an Ankheg? I know that I've run them in terrifying encounters, but I may have added to them on the fly.

    IRON DM 2025 Tournament Thread

Very tricky indeed. I am slowly working on it, but I don't think you'll see it very soon.

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

You agree with that and I agree with that (and fans of the 4e Dark Sun had to agree with that) but... there's a group of DS fans who will definitely never agree with that. But I don't think that matters. The group is small, if loud, and the rest of us can enjoy D&D refluffed to suit Dark Sun...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Well, he's right that you can't be 100% certain that it will happen, but it seems like the most likely scenario, given what you know about them, which is what I was trying to clarify, more than telling you "what the DM knows". There's definitely no likelihood that the Kobolds would treat them...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

She gains more (her life) by not crossing you. She never once crossed you. You crossed her. PCs tend to forget that they are the ones who kicked in the door and started knocking over the furniture. I'm just speaking philosophically, and clarifying story details from an NPC's perspective. Please...

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

Wow, I've read a whole lot of Naval Rules, but most of them are (for me) too cumbersome. This hits a sweet spot, I think. I'll have to give it a try! Thanks for the heads-up!

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

I have everything on DDB myself, but I read "real" books when I'm sitting in bed at night, and I generally cut-n-paste into MS Word, and edit down, information for "at the table". I don't like digital tools at the table. I find that anyone who uses DDB for their character sheet always takes...

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

I don't really care one way or the other about Spelljammer, but I like Ships, and I thought that SJ would improve on the lackluster Ship-to-Ship-Battle rules from Ghosts of Saltmarsh. Unfortunately, if anything, they were made worse. I also tried to give Light of Xaryxis a fair shake, and I...

(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Team Caves Valendra grunted at some of the suggestions, and said, "If I may: Urbone, Chief of the Kobolds is a petty tyrant who treats his subjects with little to no concern, while he takes and eats all that he desires. If you give us to them, they will most likely kill us for his...

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

I think you are wrong here. I think that people who like old DS who will like new DS are very common. It's just that people who are guaranteed to dislike NEW DS (no matter what) will shout much louder on the internet. Here on ENWorld, there will certainly be both. And they'll argue.

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

Yeah, I think that's actually a big takeaway here. It explains why WotC "fixed" the "Amazon problem" of deep-discounting the books. It wasn't to protect us FLGSes who were losing sales (and frustratingly being undercut at our freaking COST) to Amazon, but so that they themselves would be more...

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

You may be right, but there were also other reasons. Knowing my customers is a big part of how I do business (I generally know what they will buy better than they do - it's exhausting, but it's how I do as well as I do) - and there were multiple general consensuses around that time: The...

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

I don't think that you can really conclude this. What is an Adventure and what is a Setting is pretty muddled in 5e. I don't think that a "regular" person can tell the difference. OTOH, the products that WE would list as "Settings" are usually the experimental, often Magic The Gathering or...

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

I don't know why excel was spitting out the dates in that order. I agree with you that it's a strange way to write August 2023.

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

I typed that in when I posted the chart - the store has it listed as STARTER SET and I wanted to be more clear here. But I'd call that a typo or more likely a brain worm. I'm aware that it's called Lost Mines. Must be, like you say, from seeing it typed that way too often.

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

There are many factors in play when it comes to that. In no particular order: 1) Both our orders (the number I "guess" we will need), and our allocations (the number they choose to actually provide us) doesn't ever really line up consistently. On top of THAT, we can't assume that I ever "guess"...

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

No idea overall, but IIRC, it sold very well for me, and the organized play at my store had a lot of fun with it. This was back when WotC regularly sent us physical modules to run, and made their "Seasons" line up with whatever books were coming out. I remember liking it, myself.
