Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

Physical is still a massive chunk, though. Even if it were down to a small percent, and I doubt that it is, you don't cut a chunk of your income for no gain. You figure out what to replace it with (other than "Moar Digital!" - because you can attempt that without ditching print) and I will...

Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun - First Impressions

I honestly don't mean to be confrontational when I say this (just conversational, though I admit, there is a small aspect of suspicion. I just can't think of a way to ask this in a less... pointed fashion): When you're proved wrong, are you going to post a mea culpa, or just move on to a...

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's dream up new FR-style books for other Settings.

I mean, they could, sure. But IMO, they shouldn't. Or if they do, it should be for a limited release Christmas Bundle or something. Only if it had a lot of battle-maps, monster tokens, spell cards, & item cards! Better yet, they should make that boxed set as a third product!

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

IDK if I'd call them allies. Guldred was, but he has his hands full just trying to reintegrate into his tribe. Wait - what long rest? Do you mean short rest? Or have I forgotten something? I appreciate you trying to line stuff up. Remember, though that we don't have to make the time-stamps...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

The Beast has that name because he's a terrible person with a terrible reputation, even among other mercenary companies. Yes, a lot of his recruits are made up of ruffians and criminals. However, they also bully hapless folk into joining under duress. I wouldn't paint them all with the same...

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's dream up new FR-style books for other Settings.

I agree with you entirely, but they seem fixated on a way to split them up (presumably in an attempt to "monetise" them). Even as a Retailer, I disagree with the idea that this will ultimately make more money (I think that it will make money short-term and lead to longer-term decline, but short...

D&D General Converting Bg3 to Tabletop

Could. Yeah, I know a lot of people who don't play video games. Heck, BG3 is the first game I've played all the way through since, what? New Mario Brothers on the first Wii? And before that, I think it was Half-life. The first one.

D&D General Converting Bg3 to Tabletop

You see, for me, I could run this game because I bet you that I could find four players who have never played BG3!

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's dream up new FR-style books for other Settings.

I agree that would be ideal, but ultimately I disagree, but only because I think that it's easier to choose to change aspects of a book to suit a place that is different from its assumed setting than it is to get much out of a product that is made to purposefully generic. What I mean is, I...

D&D General Converting Bg3 to Tabletop

I think the best way to do it might be to have all the usual NPCs (and maybe a few others) be recruitable, but generally be left to guard the camp - the only way to ensure that the camp is a Safe Haven (usable for Long Rests - a concept that has been growing on me for some time) is to make sure...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

There's one alive. You missed the part where the Kobolds trampled the unconscious one to death. On purpose. Beast Boys. Also known as "The Beast's Boys". Bardaby Coombs (their leader) is known as "The Beast". And they are terrified of him. You can't pay them enough to betray their commander...

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

No, the book she is carrying has her notes (in an obscure short-hand) on her recent discoveries. Her spellbook is in her foot-locker.

D&D General Converting Bg3 to Tabletop

Oh, I see. I thought you were. For the others, then, or if you wanted to speculate: What would you do with the BG3 Origin Characters, if you were to run a 100% BG3 game IRL.

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Urgan (and others) would likely, by now, have the impression that the Kobolds will likely murder them, or even more likely, throw them to a large beetle in their "battle pit" and watch them fight it. (Probably after maiming them somehow to make the fight more "fair" - for the beetle.

D&D General Converting Bg3 to Tabletop

Yeah, but the latter problem is solved by the usual 5e assumption that looted gear is generally garbage that isn't better than what you've got, and no one wants to buy it. OTOH, I'd still use the Vendors, if it were me, with a small number of hand-picked items sold for coin. My question for...

That sounds really great. Much better than what we got, but that's not a problem - it doesn't have to compete, really, as it would be a great companion to it, if anyone were so inclined.

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Stryke has taken a liking to Copper and will suggest that the two of you hop back to where you fought the Elf and wait just around the corner for signs of trouble (I will insert coordinates here).

D&D General Converting Bg3 to Tabletop

This sounds fun. I would adapt many of the items to the TTRPG, bit cut them down by a wide margin. Something like 1/3 of the way from the PHB toward the video game. I might want to run this!

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's dream up new FR-style books for other Settings.

Sure, but what do we even know about it? (And: I am pretty sure WotC has retconned it into FR, and Venger is a Red Wizard of Thay now).

D&D 5E (2024) Circle Casting is gonna break a lot of games

You are right. A bespoke "10th level spell" system (where everything is a multi-caster ritual that requires rare material components and speciality research) would suit the fiction significantly better than this.
