I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

So, giants have this caste system, the Ordning, which considers non-giants as lesser folk. I think it is fair to say an average interaction with a giant may see this thinking in play and one of the cool challenges for PCs when dealing with a giant is to try navigate this superiority mentality in...

If I'm not mistaken, some puzzles use Illusionism? The one that comes to mind is the maze at Xonthal's Tower (RoT, Episode 7)

What you have described above is pretty much my table's experience. Through the 90's - 2015's when I GMed we played in Mystara, different timelines, different locations with some cross-overs between characters as different parties experienced TPK's, break-ups or resolved their storylines. I was...

Metagame is an interesting one. I'm for metagaming where I deliberately make the mechanics player-facing as the the knowledge gained from those mechanics would be known by the characters and it is easier to relay that information via mechanics. It makes for better decision-making, and highlights...

Streaming services, which do you have or are you getting rid of?

Netflix (family subscription) so we are keeping it. Prime for myself + mom. I don't watch either much. Podcasts is more my thing.

    What's Your Price Limit?

I find these days for our current campaign, I only purchase content which assists the current storyline - whether it be a guide, storyline expansion, a future storyline (I know what I'm going to be running) or material that works with a player character or their background. I'm just too invested...

D&D General Disparity in PC levels from same party

I run a high-level 5e game (10th-15th) which sees disparity in levels for a time, until the stragglers (for various reasons, usually newer characters) catchup. It has not been an issue for our campaign at our levels and the players do not seem to mind it.

Cool, will check it out as I skimmed through the 1st ACT of that AP. I've mashed a few APs together, one of these being OotA, so when my table eventually decided to do some reconnaissance work for the Council (ToD) in the underdark, they were more than high-enough level to start off with a...

As a GM, which monster do you find the most difficult to role-play?

Well, the way I see those leaders is that they rule by brute strength; wisdom in that they may sense the decline of their species or the need to adapt for them to survive but it is not an easy task to change them culturally, they make small increments of change within the tribe which reflects...

As a GM, which monster do you find the most difficult to role-play?

I believe the second - each caste express it differently. So one of the stories we are running con-currently with other is SKT (if you are familiar with it). The PCs have rescued King Hekaton and they're off to the desert to acquire the sceptre from the dragon Iymrith to rescue his daughter who...

As a GM, which monster do you find the most difficult to role-play?

Currently Giants. They do not think like humans, they have the Ordning and a society which dictates much of their decision making, they are incredibly large, live long and aren't a species with great numbers. So you have to dig deep as to how these creatures would behave psychologically in a way...

I did not know - I have no experience with the game. Is that really a theme in a superhero roleplaying game? "Lost in the dungeon" Like they get captured and have to figure out how to escape etc?

Right. So gamist would be to have the rules "set-up" so the players could wish the runes emulated a certain spell say they would be able to work out the DC themselves? i.e. no negotiation necessary with the GM and that would possibly be function of the runes on a successful skill check.

One more time, as @pemerton has said, this is not for map-and-key i.e. FICTION HAS NOT BEEN ESTABLISHED And my idea is of such runes easily being used by Trad GMs being in areas where the runes FICTIONALLY CHANGE such as in areas where desires are plagued on - planes/domains of chaos, emotions...

I may be mistaken but that is likely the case when gamism takes centre stage. It is something I'm leaning more towards to break my own expectations and biases.

That's the way I see it with the risk being the higher the sought after power from the runes, the greater the DC but also the greater the chance one gets hit with a failure/complication etc. For the more Trad GM who aren't fans of these runes because of the fictional manipulation it provides...
