Modern D&D is more related with anime than it is LotRs

Potions are a bonus action (probably house rule that back). Anything else make 5.5 a little more gritty? Max monster damage? Anything else from a DM perspective? Also do I need to keep anything in mind for the Dragonlance Shadow of the Dragon Queen adventure to help it flow?

Right. No issue from me. Just saying, WotC wants to sell books. Hence why the DMG may give less space to stuff like running a Sandbox game. If people just bought the core 3 (please do this, its all you need) and never spent another dime, well WotC wouldnt like that.

Right. You CAN run a sandbox. Use any system you want. But 5.5, WotC wants you to buy (and play) their adventures. Nice 1-10 one and done adventures. Buy it, play it, buy the next. I've been running a Sandbox with OSE and the players have been loving it. And they can love it for another...

They want people to buy adventure books. Every single one if they can help it.

I'm not stuck with any version of 5E. I can play/run any Ed and other systems. By the by, I plan to run 5.5 soonish.

I would like something that converts/upgrades the unique monsters in the adventure books. Also, why does the Cube have like 20 less HP from 2014? Do characters do less damage? (No).

Elders not wanting to leave the work place in the Gov making things stagnant while the younger generations grow resentful sure seems topical. Atleast in fantasy land they can just hand wave a fix for it.
