    D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

Durge can be whatever but default is Dragonborn Shadowheart is a Half-Elf Gale is a Human Wyll is Human Halsin is a Half-Elf, I think? or Human? He's big and bulky. None of the companions are a short race by default

    D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate 3 needs more short companions!

Mazzy in BG2 is just about the best companion you can have. A Halfling "Paladin". One thing Bg1 and 2 has over 3 is the sheer amount of companions you can have.

    D&D 5E (2014) Stripping 5e to its core

I disagree. Aside from the player power level, I find it very 5E. Though, I like to strip out the xp system and use something more normal. Then again, I suppose how you want to define 5E. One could say that OSE using the optional To Hit Bonus instead of THACO and ascending AC is very 5E...

    D&D 5E (2014) Stripping 5e to its core

    Play Shadowdark.

D&D General Who was your first character, and do you still play them?

Actual first would be in Baldurs Gate 1: A human fighter. That’s all I recall about him. Tabletop: 2E Human Fighter named Vaxxal. Dual wielded swords. He was a fisherman who longed to marry a mermaid. He died via Power Word Kill from a Death Knight in the final assault of the big bads castle

    D&D 5E (2024) "Sword" and Board Build?

AC barely matters anymore. Gone are the days when AC was king (unless playing OSR) Thanks to tons of HP and easy access to healing, AC isn't that important.

D&D General Redesigning DnD 5e with no Bonus Actions

Bonus actions are just bloat. His whole thread is about bloat added to D&D for reasons (Like tons on HP).

Mainstream News Discovers D&D's Species Terminology Change

Yeah, same with OSE. One player is playing an OSE version of the Dragonborn (Fighter with a breath weapon and extra AC). Heck the only one playing a Basic era class is the Thief player. Like Shadowdark, it's all about simplicity and cutting the fat.

Now you're talking. BTW currently playing OSE and it's been wonderful.

Mainstream News Discovers D&D's Species Terminology Change

Sounds awesome. I'll take a tropey Orc Barbarian over a "lol look how different I am" Elf Barbarian any day.

2025 Monster Manual Will Contain Over 85 New Monsters

Question related to old and new monsters: Once all 3 new core are out I plan to give it a spin with either the 5E Dragonlance or Spelljammer adventures and possibly continue into the Vecna adventure. The heros in 5.5 are more powerful now and typically 5.0 PCs ran roughshod over the combats in...

D&D General The New York Times on D&D

Melissa C. : “I tell them it’s like a game of make-believe, but the rules are what actually make it fun,” she said. “If you just win all the time and defeat every monster, that is not fun.” David C. : “All the species are becoming humans with decorations,” As one sided as the article seems to...

The Mighty TBD vs Arden Vul

Set out once again from town the group decides to investigate the topside near the pond. They start searching a ruin and find a few gold and an ivory statue of a dragon and some Rot Grubs. Which luckily, they deal with quickly thanks to lit torches. As they are inspecting that statue the...

    D&D 5E (2014) BG3 is once again a Platinium Selling Game in 2024, without selling a DLC.

Dragon Age hasn’t been good since the 1st one. All downhill from there.

D&D General 5e D&D to OSR pipeline or circle?

Easier to play/run and less player power. Characters rely on thinking through a problem instead of just relying in a skill check or just bullrushing in.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

I took my players from WotC official adventures to an open world "make your own story" and they have loved it. Their current self-made goal? Get back down into the cultist crypt and recover the body of a beloved NPC Hireling and get him raised. They've had way more fun trying to fix issues...

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

If its so trivial why remove it completely? And can't you have more than one source of tension in a game? That's like saying your character finds taking HP damage trivial. Why not just remove damage? At what point are you no longer playing a game and just adjudicating story time? Anywho...
