    D&D 5E (2014) Weak Saving Throws

This whole deal with saving throws seems bizarre. Didn't the designers notice this?

    D&D 5E (2014) Armour check penalties

Our group never bothers to check encumbrance, so we have always just used armour check penalty and handwaved most of the other stuff. It's extremely easy to house rule that heavy armour gives disadvantage on swimming checks, so I don't really have a problem with that.

    D&D 5E (2014) Armour check penalties

Hey, just a quick question: Are there armour check penalties in 5E? Can a man in full plate swim just as easily as a man that's not wearing armour?

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Unboxing Starter Set Video is on Youtube

It's extremely easy for a DM / group to houserule Second Wind, if they so desire. I think it sounds a bit wonky to use Second Wind again and again in order to fully heal, but I'll wait to experience it in play before I make any judgement call.

Why has WotC stopped posting on ENWorld?

I remember back in the day when people working at WoTC posted here, answering people's questions, teasing with snippets from a forthcomming book, etc. Scott Rouse (former D&D brandmanager, fondly known as "The Rouse") was especially active. Has it to do with Twitter? Or the constant edition-wars...

    D&D 5E (2014) Pages from the PHB

That table of Wild Magic surge is awesome! Love it!

    D&D 5E (2014) Human racial bonus in 5E

It has been a while since I was involved in the playtest. One thing I never really liked was the human racial bonus: One attribute score increases by 2 and all others by 1. Has this been changed? Have some of the designers said something about this?

    D&D 5E (2014) [Merged] D&D Next/5E Release Schedule Threads

Obligatory new edition cover-art reaction: Overall art-direction: They are obviously going for action shots on all the covers. Thats ok. I just hope they have more art catering to the "exploration" side of D&D in the books. Lots of strange and wondrous landscapes, dungeons, etc. Player's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Legends and Lore?

Did Wizards stop publishing Legends & Lore-articles? Are there any other previews / behind the scenes of D&D Next except the "Rule of three" every friday (that used to answer questions pertaining to the latest Legends & Lore)? How about publishing just a piece of artwork each week? Anything?

    D&D 5E (2014) Legends & Lore 03/24/2014

Great stuff! I love that WoTC have really run with the "easy to pickup and play" philosophy. Also allowing people to buy their own stuff as an optional rule, so no one has a reason to be displeased.

Pathfinder 1E Post here if you're a PATHFINDER RPG fan!

I'm a Pathfinder fan. Kinda. I don't use the system, but I love the creative minds at Paizo. Their stuff is so enticing. Like the Golarian campaign setting-book, so full of goodness. Very inspiring no matter which system you use. I've bought a bunch of Pathfinder-books, mostly campaign- and...

    AD&D 2nd reprints, covers revealed

Check out the new cover-design for the 2nd reprints here. I think they look really, really good! (Despite the fact that I wasn't a huge fan of the revised 2E covers.)

J.J. Abrams to direct next Star Wars film.

Oops, my bad. Point still stands. I will definately see it though, just like I'll see Prometheus 2.

J.J. Abrams to direct next Star Wars film.

Almost nothing looks and feels more generic and mainstream than J.J. Abraham's films. Star Wars will politely fold in line and hardly look different from anything else on screen in 2015.

    D&D 5E (2014) Paring the skill list

You have a very confrontational way of expressing yourself. I have noticed this in quite a few of your posts. Is that really necessary? You often make good points, but the ending of many of your posts, like this one, really seems like flame-bait. With that said, I personally prefer a narrow list...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dec 17th Packet - Monsters and Math, Hurrah!

I love the fact that Trolls can get their limbs hacked off, and that the limbs continue to regenerate. If the limb in question regenerates to 66 hit points, it becomes a brand new troll. Awesome!

    D&D 5E (2014) Maybe I'm just tired?

    - Complexity: I'm afraid the game will become too complex. - Ease of prepping: Say what you want about 4E, the game was incredibly easy to prep for. I don't like NPC statblocks with spells that I have to look up. Statblocks in 4E were self-contained. - Negativity. The fact that there seems to...

    Excerpts: Introduction

This book looks very interesting, not just to people interested in The Realms, but also to DMs interested in world-building in general.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monster Creation in D&D Next

The original minotaur from legend might have been trapped in a maze, but minotaurs in D&D have always had a certain affinity to mazes, being known for their ability to navigate labyrinths. As I understand it, The Endless Maze is not Baphomet's prison. He is not trapped there. He simply rules it...
