Think you might be remembering some things Monte Cook had to say about 3.5 edition REVIEWS Monte Cook shares his thoughts
Also my impression that seems to have been fairly unpopular move to have made. While I think it's likely any new edition will probably be worked on for a bit before it's...
I'm at least an example of being pulled that way. I used to play back in high school, but hadn't played in ... ~20 years (how'd that happen). The Ravnica book seemed interesting enough that I started looking more into the associated lore, which led to me knowing about Magic Arena to play online...
@teitan
As Brimmels said she had fallen behind on episodes, and other people may also be watching from earlier in the campaign you should probably edit your post to put that in spoiler tags (like below - you can click the three dots to get a dropdown menu for inserting spoilers)

I'd definitely say you need some kind of argument that the combat system is the most important part of a game for most people. Personally I'd put story elements as way more of a factor that affects my interest than how combat would be run,

I'm planning to start a campaign soon and want to propose using the initiative is a skill check that depends on what the characters are doing at the time
I think it goes a bit beyond just being able to ask for hints about which terrain to use.
First, while suggesting DMs be open and flexible is good, it still relies on the DMs' cooperation. And if we're talking about revising class features I think it's valid to point to this as something that...

Shadowrun Anarchy might be worth checking out, it uses the Shadowrun setting with a different more narrative focused ruleset.
Also Gumshoe might work as a system, though you'd need to adapt some of the existing settings to get what you want
This is pretty much where I'm at, though I wouldn't quite go far enough to say excited. Don't know enough about MTG or Ravnica to have had an opinion when it was first announced, but what I've seen makes me intrigued enough that I'll probably be looking closely at previews as it comes closer...
