Champions of Chaos, a New Warhammer: Age of Sigmar TTRPG, Announced

Seems like it's a "new game" in the way Force & Destiny is a separate game from Edge of the Empire (the same system with a few adjustments to make it more thematically appropriate) rather than the way Old World is separate from WFRP, for example.

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

I grew to like FemHawke, but I'll admit I still would have preferred a custom character. The Witcher is pretty much the only cRPG where a pre-created PC has worked for me. Same here with FemHawke. Saltpetre! Like, BioWare, guys, this is not subtle. And I'm playing a mage! I played FemHawke...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

The origin characters, like the humour, is the sort of thing that makes me wonder. They shouldn't need feedback to make this decision - outside of a preestablished character like Geralt (or now Ciri) for The Witcher, it's well known that players would prefer to create their own custom character...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

EA basically ignored Dragon Age because fantasy games don't sell as well as sci-fi games, so they were mostly left to their own devices, but also didn't get the same amount of funding. ME3 pissing off fans with it's ending contributed to EA giving DA a shot and increasing funding for Inquisition...

    Clockwork Revolution looks great.

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

I think @wicked cool may be getting muddled up here. Swen has spoken multiple times, both briefly and at length, about how Larian were on the verge of bankruptcy prior to D:OS1 (PC Gamer article about it). D:OS1's kickstarter success saved them from that fate, D:OS2's kickstarter success put...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

Yeah. If one liked D:OS1/2 and BG3, I expect they'll be satisfied with whatever Larian's next offering is, but those who were introduced to Larian with BG3 are probably in for bit of a shock. The degree to which BG3 early access players had to tell Larian to dial back the immature humour because...

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Did you see the thing I linked earlier? If you click the three bars in the top left corner by the search bar, you can change between various maps - eg. from Faerûn to Sword Coast to Waterdeep. It's not quite the diet google maps we'd both like, but decent for a fan project.

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

Yeah. In my experience, it's basically only the cosmetic and QoL stuff that actually gets finished. I never bothered with any for NWN, but I'd pour over content for Morrowind (and dabbled with the toolset myself). I think I can count on one hand the amount of story/quest/NPC content mods that...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

I was typing up a response, but basically what @Ruin Explorer said. Subclasses (or classes, or spells or whatever) could be DLC, but it would have to be optional content (Necromancer for Diablo 3, for example). Larian added the subclasses as part of a patch that people had to download, so it was...

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

Larian released a new subclass for each class in a major update patch. They simply don't do DLC. The only other way content gets added to the game is via mods by fans. Larian released a toolkit specifically for this, similar to what BioWare did for NWN.

I'd murderhobo for an Eberron game.

I don't think Obsidian is actually a realistic candidate at this point. They moved on from licensing to creating their own IPs a decade ago - Pillars of Eternity, Outer Worlds, most recently Avowed. The Microsoft money would make licensing more accessible for them, but Microsoft want their own...

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

After what happened with the VTT, I guess I'm skeptical about the level of interactivity this will actually have.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Yeah, but given the sort of things fans have made, with the resources Hasbro has, imagine if WotC gave us a sort of diet Google Maps for each of the various settings. One can dream.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

I had a spare moment, so I decided to test this. Using GIMP, I scaled up the maps of north Sword Coast (from Lost Mines of Phandalin) and south Sword Coast (from Scourge of the Sword Coast) and overlaid them on the Sword Coast map from SCAG, and there was enough deviation in form that I'm...

Oh, are WotC finally catching up to fanmade works like this? Would be nice if it was an interactive globe.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Schley's work for 5e has tended to have more colour gradience, while his work for 4e was more flat. The maps in your OP look much more in line with the 4e maps, so I wonder if they're older unused work.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

Yeah. If I was in Schley's position, I'd probably map out the entire thing (at least linework) in order to maintain consistent scale, and pull out the area needed for a given book. It'd be more work upfront, but solid futureproofing.

D&D 5E (2024) Atlas of Faerun (with some pictures from the internet)

This is definitely Mike Schley's work. Unfortunately, none of the maps that have upside down black triangles have a key, and the ones that have a key don't contain that symbol, so it's hard to know for sure. However, the map of Vaasa uses that symbol for Delhalls, Talagba (both Dwarven mines)...
