Daggerheart Class Packs kickstarter is live.

I guess it depends how you play. The game I play in is in Foundry, which puts everything on the sheet. But I can certainly see a case where players might enjoy something more tactile.

Looks like it's into the testing phase. I'm looking forward to it, too.

Aside from the collecting aspect, it seems like a niche product. You need to be already invested in the core game You need to be playing the game in person You need more than the supplied core cards for whatever reason (more than one group, similar abilities in a group, etc) No one is going to...

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

Fun read, not the best reference manual. Then again, most good GM guides are the same...

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

Right, facsimile. They can only create an illusion that looks real. Not create a work of art, but instead a xerox of the mona lisa. While it will be an excellent tool to fool people, that's about the extent of the tech. Something different will be needed for the singularity.

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

Eh, LLMs still are just sophisticated regurgitation machines. They have no logic whatsoever, to the point that an Atari 2600 with 2kb memory can destroy it in a chess match.

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

Sorry, I'll use more 25 cent words to describe AI detritus next time. lol

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

All I can say is, sorry that you've experienced this. I wouldn't spend more than one session in a game like that. And a video game would be much preferred over AI slop.

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

Not wrong. Also, most of his "playing wrong" rants were really "stop using 3rd party rules" rants.

It probably says that buying 3 core sets is better value than a full set of these :D

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

1e run strictly by-the-book is pretty crunchy. 1e run the way most people run/ran it could be considered rules lite lol

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

Was this tongue-in-cheek? VTTs aren't run with algorithms and preset PC/NPC conversations.

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

True. I guess there are different types of complexity: level of math vs lists of abilities to choose from, frex. Automation helps for the former, does nothing for the latter.

Will the complexity pendulum swing back?

As a VTT user, I find that automation doesn't help a lot with complexity, it only really helps with speed of play. It might help with elegant vs unwieldy games, but I think that's a different discussion.

Which "Tactical" TTRPG Would Work Best As An X-Com Like?

Wowzers, Mission X is certainly built on GURPS... "consolidated list of 65-70 skills" o_O The nice thing about Xcom is how elegant and streamlined the mechanisms are. Not sure if that's important for the OP, but it certainly would be for me.

Which "Tactical" TTRPG Would Work Best As An X-Com Like?

I used Everyday Heroes to play 5e-esque Xcom style game a few years ago. Tactical enough without getting too much into the weeds. Granted, this was before Evil Genius games turned problematic...

Is this Dragonbane, not Daggerheart, by chance?

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

If it hurts them, it hurts every single other RPG that runs things the same way, I guess. But I don't run an ttrpg business, so I'm not going to assume I know better.

Is Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart? Yes!

Concealing?? This sounds like they are willfully hiding it. How many copies of PF2 have sold? Tales of the Valiant? Warhammer 4e? Cyberpunk Red? These figures are not shared publicly. They've said it's selling well, that's all we're going to get.
