Well, he is replacing it with a totally different system: giving monsters levels not CR. That is really something quite different and has nothing to do with the accuracy of the CR calculator and more to do with encounter design. Which are separate things in 5e

I don’t think that is true at all, not by any definition of superhero I’ve seen.

Issue it’s possibly around the idea that no one has standard definition about what a superhero is. Some people would call 5E players superheroes and others would say it is not. So superhero is more talking about your biases than a statement of fact
