    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

I feel the response you quoted shows I understand the subjectivity of fantasy. That is not really the issue though is it?
  2. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

No idea really, but most athletes (and I don’t me the professionals) would have a sense. The issue is less world records and more talent, skills, & training.
  3. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

No there is absolutely room for things that are different by natural, but that is not what most people are talking about.

I doubt they are scared, it bet the don’t care or don’t see it as an issue. I don’t the debate in this thread even crosses their mind
  6. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

Sure it does. Fantasy physics/reality is the same thing as magic to reality.
  7. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

@Minigiant already said world record and fantasy world record, so just fantasy already did not cut it
  8. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

Fantasy world record is just another way of saying “innate magic”
  9. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

  10. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

What about grimdark or low magic GoT style game or heck LotR style?
  11. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

Yes, that is why flexibility is important. Thank you for pointing that out. Add that to the fact there are dozens of settings and styles of play for 5e in print now. I’m pretty confident D&D will continue to be a multi-genre game for many more years I never was. Not sure why that is relevant
  12. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

I’m speaking about how the game has been played for the 30yrs I’ve been playing.
  13. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

Oh it depends. If the rule is written players assume it is true, where that may not always be the case. Different play styles and different settings and environments impact these actions. Once it is on the page players feel entitled to what is written. Now a DM can overcome that, but it can...
  14. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

If that is what you think you have completed misunderstood the discussions. Which I already assume from your previous post - but just thought you should know except the rules are used for more than fantasy, or did you not realize that?
  15. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

Yes, that is works great for a fantasy setting, but D&D has for long time been used for more than fantasy
  16. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

I’ve gamed with my DM for 30 years and just trust him. Not sure what he does in his end
  17. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

Yes we are coming at this from very different perspectives. Describing my actions and being able to attempt it is all the rules I want and need as a player. I am only limited by my imagination. I prefer a rules light game, it seems you want a rules heavy game. I guess 5e being fairly rules light...
  18. Uni-the-Unicorn!

    D&D 5E (2014) The Magical Martial

I just read the rules again and the jump action describes what you can do with no check. If its longer or higher than the prescribed distance (or if there is an obstacle) then you need a check. Seems like we have been doing it correctly and feeling empowered all along! In fact, the rules...
