I think they should have given us a fifth subclass for each and included the Artificer and its 4 subclasses alongside a brand new one. Artificer – something akin to Exploring Eberron's Forge Adept. Barbarian - Path of the Storm Herald. Bard - College of Eloquence. Cleric - Knowledge Domain...

This is the fundamental conflict between Rangers and Druids. Druids are Green-centered, and just as likely to be Green-Red or Green-Black as they are to be Green-White or Green-Blue. Rangers are fundamentally Green-White, even leaning White-Blue at times.

Probably Spirits over Whispers. I like the Ranger Monster Slayer choice here – they're the one HUNTING the other Monsters. Monk would need heavy revisions to Long Death, and it's more of a campaign setting monastic tradition… I'd love a proper shadowy Fighter subclass. Eberron's Bone Knight?

Agreed, but WotC has apparently decided that Fighting Styles are not worth half a feat anymore.

Frostbite, Lightning Lure, Ray of Frost, Gust, Mold Earth, Thorn Whip, True Strike, Blade Ward, or Booming Blade would all be decent options if available.

I lean Genasi into their Genie origins a bit more. Storm Genasi and the Abyssal and Dark Sun Genasi were cool too, but I think it becomes complicated when you want to express so many different human+elemental species as player options (and make Giants specifically elemental as D&D does).

I guess in that regards the College of Swords is a very specific call back to the knife-eating performer, the Blade kit of 2e. College of Valour is the Bardic Warlord.

My issue with that is that it pigeon-holes College of Valour into Sword-Bard. Bow is a very viable Valour option, as are other weapons. It's a broader concept.
