Wizards of the Coast Says That China Tariffs Will Have Minimal Impact on D&D

No. Megacorp is a wildly different scale. Mega corps own companies like Hasbro. I used to work with one at a (huge) company I worked at... We had multiple data centers on multiple continents and significant amounts of Internet backbone stuff. Some of our OEM customers were literally every US...

Wizards of the Coast Says That China Tariffs Will Have Minimal Impact on D&D

Important thing to remember about wotc/Hasbro that is different from other rpg community companies. It costs about 20,000$ to ship one of those big shipping containers from China to the US∆. If you have the sales volume to be doing that a few times a year then you probably also have the sales...

    Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

I'm not sure if it was backerkit or Patreon, but there was an April fools day packet for a clown/jester that was used to show layout with some very tongue in cheek satirical humor about jesters speaking the unspeakable to kings through history. Given that it was so thick with April fools vibes...

WotC Would you buy WotC products produced or enhanced with AI?

With ai art? Whatever With ai plot skeleton later filled in by a human? I don't think this would be detectable because there's really only so many plot structures when it comes down to it With ai rules? Wtf? I can't even imagine this being useful enough to read

WotC Chris Cao has left WotC

They look like very interconnected things yea. Don't get me wrong, Miller's law is very much a thing with tons of related of research, it's using the findings as justification for a particular flavor of simplicity like capping players at 8 abilities through the extreme expansion of what falls...

D&D 5E (2024) Is Combat Tedious on Purpose?

That's a new 5e exclusive problem 5e created and used concentration to paper over the gushing wound inflicted when it switched from vancian to neovancian in the name of simplicity. It could have been avoided by including a sidebar with slot progression and prep rules for standard vancian prep...

WotC Chris Cao has left WotC

You are talking about something different. I never played it, so won't get into if it was a good choice or not, but the short term memory 7+/-2 that Miller's law covers is an entirely different thing because the functionality of player abilities cease to be short term working memory very...

WotC Chris Cao has left WotC

Sounds like a (terrible) pseudoscience misinterpretation of Miller's law https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magical_Number_Seven,_Plus_or_Minus_Two#:~:text=Miller%20of%20Harvard%20University%27s,referred%20to%20as%20Miller%27s%20law. That or someone with so little gaming experience the they...

D&D 5E (2024) PC Gamer: It's clear Hasbro, the custodians of D&D, have no idea what to do with Baldur's Gate 3's success

Definitely dai yea, I didn't even remember da2 being a separate game till I reinstalled from steam earlier & definitely know that I enjoyed 2

D&D 5E (2024) PC Gamer: It's clear Hasbro, the custodians of D&D, have no idea what to do with Baldur's Gate 3's success

It's been over a decade and I mentioned fuzzy memories. There was some kind of gameplay change that turned me off on top of the whitewashed world already mentioned. The two combined left me dropping the game pretty quickly compared to my usual tenacity with games.

D&D 5E (2024) PC Gamer: It's clear Hasbro, the custodians of D&D, have no idea what to do with Baldur's Gate 3's success

It's been quite a few years and it's fuzzy now buy... Fwiw: I deliberately played an elf made in dao to revel in the darkness of a horrible world where bad things happened and people had to make hard choices (like the dwarf golems). I probably could have lived with the sequel's shift from...

D&D 5E (2024) PC Gamer: It's clear Hasbro, the custodians of D&D, have no idea what to do with Baldur's Gate 3's success

Likely not much, they never seemed to show any indication that upper manavement in charge of its direction had any understanding of a vtt & any concern or criticism from VTT users over that fact tended to get dog piled & ratio'd with some flavor of " wotc smart trust them". Speaking as someone...

    D&D 5E (2024) 13 Attacks a Round the Most You Can Get?

It was already mentioned by @CleverNickName but I'm going to take it a step further on why these aren't just white boarding problems because most on my 5e games have gone into the low to mid teens. That might put me outside the average, but it very much runs 5e through the acid test and exposed...

D&D 5E (2024) Is Combat Tedious on Purpose?

Why does an opinion on if combat is tedious or not need a comparison? Quite a few posts through the thread have detailed or quibbled over reasons why individual posters feel one way or the other if you were looking for more than yes or no.

D&D 5E (2024) Is Combat Tedious on Purpose?

Thats quite the selective quote to stop just before a word like and with a sentence directly addressing fiduciary responsibility. Are you claiming that "making a slightly changed half-edition is the only way to accomplish that goal"? Alternately should we assume that your choice to stop the...

D&D 5E (2024) Is Combat Tedious on Purpose?

So do I, but I took part in attempting to correct incredibly bad assumptions that often reacted as if we were talking about binary compatibility for compiled code. I also recall being dogpiled by a small and very vocal echo chamber reinforcing that had assumption and wotc making very little (if...

D&D 5E (2024) Is Combat Tedious on Purpose?

A significant chunk of what you call a "majority"∆ will enthusiastically support anything wotc publishes. Bad polling and the sort of questionable testing that allowed so many millions to b involved in sigil thinking a vtts was a video game ∆ we've all heard the phrase "lies damned lies and...

    D&D 5E (2024) 13 Attacks a Round the Most You Can Get?

To be fair, plenty of them expressed concerns about the obvious power creep with PCs during the "playtest" too. Sometimes they are still running or playing 5e often enough to be annoyed by a design ethos that seems to be guided by little more than "19 out of 20 toddlers polled wanted more...
