I think you have to be someone who relies on both physical weapons and arcane magic to count as a gish. Artificers are known more for their magical innovations. Can someone like the Ranger and the Paladin count as divine gishes?

An Arcane Gish ought to be what you get if you multiclassed an Eldritch Knight Fighter with a Bladesinger Wizard and threw in some signature features to make it truly unique.

When it does come to the mystical martial arts, the monk does seem to be the go-to class for this particular concept. Using another class for the ninja would require some out-of-the-box thinking. Something a 3pp is more likely to do.

If 5e was more like PF1, you could play as a member of the base class as is or you could play an archetype of the base class. 5e, unfortunately, doesn't give you the option. All of the flavor of a given class resides in the various subclasses of that class.

An Arcane half-caster/Fighter hybrid. WoTC has been trying to make one for some time now. 3e's Duskblade. 4e's Swordmage. It is time 5e had its' own official gish. I say official because of Laser Llama's own homebrewed Magus class. ;) Laser Llama also has his own Warlord and Shaman classes.
