    I had 5 player. Xp budget was 27k. CR23 was 50k. Buffed its hpnto 500. They kicked its ass. I did put 1 OP item in but it wasnt that. Player rolled poorly. +15 wisdom save with advantage shut down control spells. Every class has nova abilities.

    I refluffed creatures for gods avatars. Mykul-deathknight Bane-archpriest DM special Bhaal- assassin +DM special Lvl 9-11 If you ignore the rules I think you can go up to CRx2 for solos. At 13 I used CR23.

    It doesn't compare well to other editions either. You can do that approach sure. You could also do E6 or make a 10 level game.

    I did say 4E phb. They inflated the power level in 4E splats. Main point is a level 29 power is closer in effect to a 5th level spell in 5E. I understand why they toned things down. Beats me why they added 10 more levels it was a bad idea then. Go look at a 20th level 4E power them...

    Way to do it isn't via subclass. In universe the purple dragon wasn't an Amethyst dragon. Designers being oblivious.
