I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

I guess you mean sex rather than gender (assuming you are aware of the difference). But there isn't really a problem with stat bonuses between different sexes of fantasy races assuming they have significant enough sexual dimorphism to be represented by stat bonuses or penalties.

D&D General My experience with paid D&D tools after 3+ years as a DM/Player

By live I just meant with people sitting face to face, so as long as I have a means to record the session it works.

    Video Games You Wish Existed

What? It's one of the brighter games I've played (except for the swamps) that's a bizarre experience to have with it.

How does Saga20 work is it a Discord plug in? Is there anything like it for live games?

    Video Games You Wish Existed

The music will drag you back in, the game is absolutely beautiful in play despite or even because of the low res graphics.

Games you need to go outside your normal group to play

I agree it works really well as a one shot, it is my goto for convention games. Saying that I've played Horror on the Orient Express (1st edition), and Tatters of the King which were both much longer games and it worked out fine. I think the longer campaigns support a slow descent into madness...

Edgar Wright Directing. I'm in. I don't think he has put a foot wrong with the films he's made.

Looking for a properly bleak game for a paper.

Don't Rest Your Head, where you play insomniacs with weird "madness" powers as you descend into an insane world.

Looking for a properly bleak game for a paper.

Call of Cthulhu is pretty bleak, you character is likely to die or go insane, and the ancient Gods can and do wipe people or entire cities out when the players can't delay them.

For those who don't play D&D (or its clones), what keeps you engaged with EN World?

You're nice people on the whole, you get interesting discussions that are beyond D&D, and general RPG news as well.

[James Bond] The next movie directed by Denis Villeneuve

Give her a chance, I wouldn't be surprised if she isn't already in the process of applying for citizenship all things considered. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C3xXYQoISUK/

    D&D 5E (2014) Dark Sun, problematic content, and 5E…

Problematic content is acceptable even if it isn't obviously and explicitly evil and/or meant to be fought. It just needs to be handled with a little more care, and isn't for every game table. Even then what is problematic is a sliding scale, what is problematic for some tables won't be for...

D&D General What makes a TTRPG a "D&D Variant" to you?

I agree I would go as far to say to some degree setting doesn't even need to be fantasy. There were a load of d20 variant games like Judge Dredd, and a Call of Cthulhu that I was put off by the level/class structure.
