Poll: Best DC TV Superhero Show

I voted Arrow, but the last two seasons were a bit of a struggle for me. The first 3 seasons of Flash I loved, even with the Time-Whamm-ness and mopey-ness. But I think the writers boxed themselves in too much season after season. Team Flash would learn the big bad very early in a season...

D&D General What are your media sources of inspiration

Shakespeare: The rival families and street war in Romeo and Juliet The witches (hags) making mischief by the roadside in Macbeth Doppelganger causing trouble in different plays Faire Courts in Midsummers Night Court intrigue in Hamlet Lots of ways to get...

D&D 5E (2014) New products featuring Vistani will be?

I agree with those predicting a Xanathar's style book. Since it built our sub-classes, and their are several races that need updating, a book that provides a fairly big range of new race (folk?) options would work on several levels.

D&D General What are your media sources of inspiration

So, all of my traditional inspiration has already been listed, so I will go with some of my out of left field ones: Tombstone. And I mean that for D&D. There is just something about the party (3 brothers and Doc) that screams D&D to me. Heck, in my minds eye I see Doc with a wand not a rifle...

Helping kids to act in character and not use player knowledge

As an aside, I watched the Christmas themed D&D episode of Big Bang Theory last night. Every encounter they showed involved player challenges not character challenges (outside of some combat rolls).

    D&Detox

I get the problems. I didn't back Deadlands this week because as awesome as it looks getting my group to learn/play/enjoy it would be an effort. Instead, I will just hack new World of Darkness for a Western setting if I want to play Weird West. We are older players that over the decades played...

D&D 5E (2014) 5e most conservative edition yet? (In terms of new settings)

Give me more like Wildemount. While I will absolutely buy any 2nd edition retread, I would love to see more from independents that hit it just right and get brought in to the big time. . Heck, even Forgotten Realms is a homebrew world that got bought and caught fire, right?

    AD&D 2E Edition Experience - Did/Do you Play AD&D 2E? How Was/Is It?

Played and DM'ed a lot of 2nd edition. It was, to us, basically 1ed with THAC0 and Kits. We never used Power and Skills. As a player, my character sheet (or session sheet) would have a to hit table so I could quickly call out the AC I hit. As a DM I would have a master sheet with the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Splitting Proficiency Concept

Hmmm. Looking at the way spells work, the "to-hit" rolls don't go up every level but the amount of spells you know/can cast do. Maybe, your system should only affect what you know (Which skills, weapons, armors, spells) but not how well you do them. So your attack rolls, skill rolls, saving...

    D&D 5E (2014) Splitting Proficiency Concept

As a player, I would have no problem building a character around this method, and I certainly see where some extra customization would be nice. There are a lot of character builds I have done that I almost love, except one small thing (too many spells, not enough skills etc.) But at what point...

D&D General Did anyone ever "win" D&D?

Sigh, I still remember having to rip up my characters and mail him a list of their treasure and magic items.

D&D General Is "official" lore important to you?

Too complex, but the poll is not silly. I find official lore interesting but not important. Mostly because the players I play with don't delve into official lore. So, I have taken official maps (even for something as well known as Krynn) and just made up a whole new world. Players never...

D&D 5E (2014) Official D&D Greek-Themed 'Mythic Odysseys of Theros' Setting Coming In May

So I was just starting to plan a new campaign, the first in years. It was going to be generic D&D fantasy, and I was going to get the Wildemount book. Then I saw this and went YES, it will be Greek. But I don't want to wait till May. So, thanks to the mentions in Morris' first post, I ordered...

WotC 7 Digital D&D Games In Development

I am not much of a video gamer, and don't do online play at all, but BG3 has my attention, Dark Alliance so far does not (based on the little info we have). If the other 5 fall inbetween those two then that is a good spread and probably a winning strategy. Just my 2 cents worth

    Fantasy Flight Games Discontinuing RPGs?

obi-wan is still being made, the hiatus is not even interrupting the planned start date. The Cassian Andor series is still slated for production. I personally think we have some great Star Wars to look forward to seeing.

On Magic Users and Darts: What's Up With That?

For my group it was definitely a 2nd edition "thing". We had occasional dart throwing magic-users in first, but not regularly. Once 2nd came around it became standard issue, even though magic darts were rare. If memory serves it was pretty much based on 3 per round.

    Lay-offs at Fantasy Flight Games?

I just saw where the collectible dice/card game for star wars is being "completed" is ending. Wonder if that i signs of more bad things to come for them and Star Wars. .
