    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

I view it as the players' job to bring functioning cars; my job as GM is to make sure the race track is clear and wave the starting flag. I GM my games a quarter-mile at a time. :)

    D&D 5E (2024) WotC Should Make 5.5E Specific Setting

And some us are just 5e customers, who view 2014, 2024, TotV and A5e as just different trims and colors of the same car model.

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's make 5e specific setting, starting with a pantheon

One god for each class seems enormously gamist, unless the setting is intended to have the existence of classes as a recognizable social pillar.

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

Unless we’re doing a game based on established IP and all the players have a decent amount of background with the IP, that’s how I run all my games.

D&D General Wildly Diverse "Circus Troupe" Adventuring Parties

For sure. That's been true for as long as I've been playing. I don't think it's better or worse than any previous time; it's simply how players generally are. It's why I've been moving away from using setting as an extra restrictor on character creation for decades now, unless the system is...

    D&D General Geralt what class

I'd go with Ranger. While Geralt is a lot like a modern D&D character in that he doesn't really have any low stats, the closest things he has to an average stat are Intelligence and Charisma. (Note that I also believe that stats are expressions of what a character does, not their innate...

D&D 5E (2024) GMs: How long should it usually take to go from level 1 to 4?

All of my in-person tables average around 3-3.5 hours per session, no matter who's DMing. I don't normally start at 1, but when it has happened, it's usually one session to get to 2, 2 sessions to get to 3, and then we hit our normal pace of about 3-4 sessions per level.

D&D 5E (2024) Lorwyn: First Light Released on D&D Beyond

For me, yea, about that. Somewhere between 0.2 and 0.25 USD per page. (Or 4-5 pages per USD.) For $70, I would be expecting a 280-350 page book. I'd pay $60 for a 256 page book.

    What was your 2nd RPG?

That I actually played a session of was Werewolf: The Apocalypse.

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

Seems weird to change my methodology so drastically after all these years of lying to try and get them to make what I like.

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

I'm fine with them changing the name. That doesn't impact the fact that "Warrior of Intoxication" sounds brutally terrible. :)

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

Picked up the Stormlight RPG core package at the local game store last week. As a 5e evolution and a source guide to the Stormlight Archive, it's pretty great. And I already have some RPG novices interested in trying a game because of their attachment to the source material.

    D&D General Should you Multiclass?

This is a total tangent (apologies in advance), but this is actually a setting element in my 5e games. Gaining levels in a single class becomes harder and harder as a character advances in tier, to the point where breaking through to level 17 (Tier 4) is something that only happens to less than...

    D&D General A Setting! A Setting!

Fun thread, BTW. I remember you participating a lot in the setting thread I made last year, I'm thinking of some ideas right now to attempt to return the favor.

    D&D General A Setting! A Setting!

Out of curiosity, is this setting intended to be system-neutral, or is there a lean towards a particular system or type of system? Also, not a ton of specific demographic information, like races and cultures...is that intentional to allow the city to be system-neutral? Or just haven't gotten...

    D&D General A Setting! A Setting!

So, just reading through this and attempting to summarize. Probably missing details. Ellidam is a fantastical solarpunk alpha city (a la New York, London), with elemental rifts providing sustainable energy for magitech type effects throughout the city. The city has a long history, with many...

    D&D 5E (2014) How To Make High Level 5E Work.For You +

I would agree with this. Even if you were able to do a "follow the story" game for the majority of the game, Tier 4 makes it extremely easy to just ignore that stuff if the players want.

D&D General Poll: How many Role Playing Games do you play besides D&D?

I think quite a few players have either 0 or 1 table, and D&D is by far the easiest game to find a whole table for. Playing a stack of other games requires a table that is willing to be flexible and try new things; there are plenty of gamers like that, but it's definitely not everyone...

    Does Anyone Care? (Cosmere RPG)

Makes sense....book 5 definitely suggests a lot of historically relevant eras. The long time period between the Final Desolation and the Recreance, just as one example, could fit in lots of campaign ideas.
