That covers the specific case of haste, but that's not the only buffing spell you might want to cast on an ally. There's cure wounds, protection from evil and good, enlarge/reduce, calm emotions, and probably a bunch more that I'm not thinking of at the moment.

If you like "Tomb of Tiberesh," I also recommend "Cat and Mouse," from the same setting. It's pretty clearly based on The Maltese Falcon.

Personally (and I fully expect to be flamed severely chastized for this), I think it's a mistake to put this sort of consideration ahead of what makes most sense for the fiction.

In case you couldn't tell, I was being tongue in cheek. It does make me feel kind of left out of the lovefest, but that's my problem.
