Similar to the tropes view, I like to play in established settings like Middle Earth, Star Wars, Forgotten Realms or Warhammer where GM and players would ideally have same knowledge / input on what is around / can refer to same documents outside of specific adventure mysteries as such.

I think depends on the group and rules set i think. Some rule sets would push more to advisers, others to subjects as default. In our group we tendvto rotate Who is GM or equivalent from campaign to campaign ( and one shots and everything in between) so often we are advising each other...

54 plus 10 siege of terra novels. It took me a few years reading them all, roughly two a month, but I did enjoy them :) some definitely more worth your time than others

Reread Otherland book 1 recently. I think it is a good book with lots of interesting ideas, but I find it a slow read, something about it makes it hard for me to to stay engaged with it too long, so haven't gone on to book 2 yet, reading other books that keep me more engaged.
