D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

When you have people who's default assumption is that WotC is lying, they are never going to avoid "messaging issues". If someone starts out with the assumption that you are lying to them, there is nothing you can say that will convince them otherwise.

D&D General Some Interesting Stats About D&D Players!

It wouldn't surprise me if in 1974, most of the players were boomers. D&D was an offshoot of the chainmail war game. Historical and Fantasy wargamers tended a lot older. Particularly before Warhammer and 40k. However by the time Moldvay came out in '81, when D&D experienced its first huge...

D&D General Some Interesting Stats About D&D Players!

We are talking about D&D players though, not the number of people who have heard of D&D.

The youngest Boomers would have already been 17 by the time Moldvay came out. The oldest would be 35.

D&D General Some Interesting Stats About D&D Players!

If you want to define D&D that way that fine, you can if you want to. Why is WotC lying just because they disagree with you?

D&D General Some Interesting Stats About D&D Players!

How many people playing d&d in the 70's were actually in their 20s or 30? A bit before my time, but from my understanding it was mostly teens and pre-teens. The people playing D&D in ET are like 12 years old.

And that makes them liars who are misrepresenting themselves for financial gain? If anyone ever disagrees with your definition of a word they must be lying?

D&D General Some Interesting Stats About D&D Players!

So you alone get to define what D&D means, and not the company the owns the D&D trademark, and is currently selling the game called Dungeons and Dragons? If they don't use exactly the same meaning as you do, they must be lying and misrepresenting themselves? Sure that must be it.

Many of them are also not alive anymore also. It has 50 years. If you started playing D&D is 1974 at 26 years old you basically have a 50 percent chance of being dead now. Life expectance is the U.S. is only 76.4 years now.

D&D General Some Interesting Stats About D&D Players!

On this site sure. "Kids these days" don't look at forums anymore. All of there discussions is on Reddit, Discord, and probably somewhere else I am to old to even know about. The last thing kids want when discussing their hobbies is to hang out with people the age of their grandparents.

D&D General Some Interesting Stats About D&D Players!

Because they are targeting the much larger audience. You can't target everything to everyone. Sure WotC would like for boomers to buy there products, but they are not going to target them in place of millennials. A company has to make choices. Do they target their largest demographic, who...

D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

You also get the fun addition of a +1 magic armor lowering your armor class. Nothing confusing there.

D&D 5E (2024) Jeremy Crawford: “We are releasing new editions of the books”

From the start of the D&DNext playtests before 5e even came out they have been saying that are done with editions, and will just refer to it as D&D. They have been referring to the game as evergreen from the start. I know there was a quote from Mearls or maybe Crawford in one of old youtube...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Printers Can't Handle WotC's One D&D Print Runs!

To let players know why they aren't releasing all 3 core books at once. It's just communicating the details of their release schedule. WOTC really can't win here can they? Give players details about there release schedule? WotC is just flexing to make themselves look good. Don't give...

D&D 5E (2024) Concentration on multiple spells, The "dormant" spell tag.

No, no double concentration ever. I understand that limits aren't fun, but sometimes they are necessary for the good of the game. As long as D&D is a game that includes both spellcasters and nonspellcasters as supposed equals, there has to be some restrictions on casters. 5e finally imposed...

D&D 5E (2024) How should the Warlord be implemented in 1DnD?

The Battlemaster isn't a Warlord, but it does has all the right pieces to be one. I can turn the 5e Battlemaster into a warlord by adding one sentence to the PHB. At the end of the section for combat superiority add the following. When you take the attack action you make one or more fewer...

D&D 5E (2024) They butchered the warlock in the new packet

I am not sure why it is so difficult to understand. Some of the games I play in and DM, tend to be fairly Cinematic and story focused. We spend a lot more time roleplaying then we do in combat. I would say the most common number of combats per day for those groups is 1. It's not like we...

D&D 5E (2024) They butchered the warlock in the new packet

I am not against the idea of short rests. I just don't think a class should get back their major abilities only on a short rest. It is just to difficult to balance for different playstyles. I like having every class recovering some abilities and healing. I like warlocks having a big nuke...

D&D 5E (2024) They butchered the warlock in the new packet

I'm curious how many short rests per long rest your parties typically get? That really seams like the dividing line if people liked the old 5e warlock or not. I really want to like the pact magic version. When 5e first came out, I loved the idea of having different classes having different...
