D&D General When did Kwalish go from Human to Gnome?

I... I regret asking him about Kwalish last night.

D&D General When did Kwalish go from Human to Gnome?

I wonder if we can just ask Tim, for historical purposes? :geek:

D&D General How Did You Generate Your Most Recent Character's Stats?

Yes. You get the fun and randomness of actual dice, and the fairness of everyone being able to pick whichever set they want, but it does tend to result in slightly stronger characters if one or more players rolls high. So I buff (or nerf) the encounters based on my evaluation of the power of the...

D&D General How Did You Generate Your Most Recent Character's Stats?

4d6 drop lowest. Record each "set" of stats. Players can choose ANY of the sets. I adjust monsters to suit.

D&D General New Critical Role Method for Leveling

I've never used this method in D&D, but I've used it in games like Chronicles of Darkness, Exalted, and Scion where you have some amount of XP set aside and the players can spend them mid-session. I think it's a really fun idea that had mostly positive results in the games where I allowed it...

D&D General The Monsters Know What They're Doing ... Are Unsure on 5e24

By the gods, an undead patron warlock that wanders around in a white sheet like a ghost costume!

D&D General You Were Rolling Up a New Character, and Just Rolled a 3. What Is Your Reaction?

I do love the idea that animals are secretly just 20% less intelligent than your average human. Animal Farm, Charlotte's Web, Secret of NIMH, the Great Mouse Detective... all true! :geek:

D&D General You Were Rolling Up a New Character, and Just Rolled a 3. What Is Your Reaction?

"Why are you adventuring when you're so sickly?" "A malicious wizard swore to pay my family 1gp for every day I do this..."

D&D General You Were Rolling Up a New Character, and Just Rolled a 3. What Is Your Reaction?

Amazing! Unless you put it in Strength, then I will cry.

D&D 5E (2014) What is your favorite encounter site or dungeon from an official module?

Since we've drifted from 5E specifically... I've run homebrew versions of Pool of Radiance several times now. The names are changed, but there's a keep across the river, a library, a textile district, a graveyard, a well, a great castle where a dragon roosts. It's a classic now, near and dear...

D&D General Which species would you like to see being introduced next for 2024 D&D?

Just go down the list of monsters in the MM and give us a handful of them.

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

Some people definitely do, but it's mostly theatre to me. That is to say, all parties are presenting their arguments to the greater whole (that being whoever is reading). You state your cases, try to refute other points, but it's all for the audience. The audience / future readers stumble...

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

We're probably getting lost in the weeds. Even if Maxperson is personally an excellent driver, his own skills are not necessarily relevant to whether most drivers would benefit from such training.

My premium is sadly not lower despite having a CDL.

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

Increased awareness of roadway threats in general, increased knowledge of traffic flow, and specific experience of how a semi maneuvers so you can anticipate their behavior on the road and what they need from you. A semi reacts slowly and poorly, requiring you to scan far further ahead and use...

    D&D 5E (2024) A critical analysis of 2024's revised classes

Takes me a week to make a character! Mostly because everything has to vibe right, including the name. 😥

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

    Why would it be impossible?

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

Oh absolutely. Ask 5 people on a forum, and you'll get 7 different definitions of fiction first. I've even had people use it in a discussion with me and I had no idea what they meant because of how they were using it (not that my understanding of the phrase is any better).

D&D General A Rant: DMing is not hard.

I might be able to explain. Mercer is an old school trad GM at heart. He's an incredibly nice guy, and has no problem going along with rule of cool or erring on the side of his players, but he's very used to and comfortable with holding the narrative authority himself. Daggerheart encourages you...

Dungeons & Dragons: Warlock Video Game Announced by Invoke Studios

Would be amazing if you can swap pacts, or invest in different pacts. Not sure how that would manifest, but it would be interesting if you can do Hexblade playstyle for a bit, then swap to Great Old One playstyle, then Fathomless playstyle, etc.
