What are you reading in 2026?

That's the one I bounced off of hard enough to stop reading Hendrix. Different people will have different tastes and preferences, and I'm genuinely glad you enjoyed it.

What are you reading in 2026?

    A) Grady Hendrix is a "he." B) Horrorstor is my personal favorite of Hendrix's books, something about the deadpan "catalog" listings, I think. (I've bounced real hard off Hendrix lately, that's not relevant to y'all enjoying his novels. Seriously, have at.)

At this point, "borrowed" isn't exactly the word, is it?

Unrelated to the above: I don't think those things work that way as often as you think they do.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

If it's, say, a planned--and executed--trilogy, I'll generally treat that as one story. If it's like indefinite series fiction I'll either skip it or just grab whatever new-to-me books I find, and read them as I find them, mixed in with whatever other books I'm reading. If it's a planned trilogy...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I guess I was never a true Star Wars fan, then. I haven't seen anything since The Phantom Menace.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Again, not really trying to argue, here, just pointing at a different experience and POV: My wife is one of the people who got me in to Pratchett, and she absolutely adores the Witches, and she started me with Guards! Guards!.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

The objectively best way to consume Star Wars is to start with the first movie released and to watch them in order of release until something breaks in your soul and you quit.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

My take on, say, starting with Guards! Guards! is that it's more about starting people out with a strong novel that happens to not rely much on prior continuity. Once people are hooked, they can go back and fill in. Someone who already knows they like Pratchett can start from The Colour of Magic...

Also, ignoring someone because doing so improves your QOL is entirely reasonable.

What are you reading in 2026?

Some people read more quickly, some people have fewer other hobbies/interests/media interactions. I read over 200 books in 2025, and my wife read more books than I did.

Just don't pretend it's like hard SF, and I'm fine with it.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Of those "Ortho" is the easiest one for me to understand happening. It's a root/prefix (orthopedist) as well as being a brand of gardening chemicals. I suspect the player who's doing both is hearing the other players who are doing one each and combining them. I understand the frustration...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I would point out to K's player that intentionally shortening it is less mocking-ish than persistently stumbling through it and/or mispronouncing it. If there were some other syllable the player would prefer I use, I'd be happy to use that. I've played at least one character with a more or less...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

That looks like a hard name to persistently mispronounce. I mean, I see a couple-three ways to pronounce it, but they're all simple. (My first guess is long o's, th unvoiced?)
