    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

And we have 5 announced only 1/12 of the way through the year. Last year hardly any of the 3PP on DDB got much advanced publicity. So that is markedly different. It's also notable that release schedules for everyone ramp up towards the end of the year (and Christmas) and Q1 is a lull, since...

Not really, most of the maps are real world inspired - a hut, a cave, etc. It doesn’t have much in the way of complex dungeons. Or eye candy, since the maps aren’t coloured.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Oh yes, very much so. See the price increases in POD services. Shipping costs too. Other publishers have much smaller print runs, so have more options for choice of printer. You have a big print run, you need a big printer. Which is the thing. It would make life much easier for WotC to take...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

WotC would typically release one product in 1st quarter. We have 5 3PP on DDB. That is way more aggressive.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Rapidly rising printing costs plus tariffs.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

It’s better than putting out poor quality products, delayed products, or unaffordable products.

There are a number of factors shaping the society of Radiant Citadel: It is post-scarcity. Everything the population needs is provided by magic. It has a low population. There is no need for centralised government, bureaucracy, complex legal codes or police forces when everyone knows everyone...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Which may be why we have a bunch of 3PP stuff on DDB. They may not be WotC written, but they are for WotC’s game in WotC’s storefront. Ergo they retain official D&D mindshare. I expect WotC aren’t likely to go for more than six months without an official product though. But that needn’t be...

These are the two we know about, but when you have an aging staff in a high pressure industry you have to assume some are winding down for health reasons, which is a private matter that the company isn’t going to announce.

But the reason we probably aren't getting anything till May may well be because if someone leaves a project half way through it takes longer for someone else to pick it up.

No, they are replacing older people who are moving on. And the pipeline for a new book is roughly two years, do we are unlikely to see their ideas in print until late 2027. This year’s output will be things started by the old guard, which may go some way to explain the announcement hiatus.

D&D 5E (2024) Exploring Eberron 2024 -- Gnolls and other gnew character options

The main "exploitable feature" of the original Ruinbound Dwarf were it's ASIs: +2 CON +1 CHA, so you could make a good dwarven sorcerer or warlock. As I said in the other thread, I would have turned this into a background for the 2024 rules. It's still weak - when I played a ruinbound dwarf...

D&D General Are creatures of the Ethereal Plane the Elemental creature type?

I see nothing in Gygaxian writings to suggest the boarder ethereal contains anything other than the occasional trapped ghost, transiting wizards and phasing spiders. It doesn't have "places" as such, only shadows of what exists on the prime material, and no native spirit inhabitants. And it's...
