D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

It's not about preventing allies being attacked, it's about you being durable. If they attack you instead of your familiar then you aren't durable even if your familiar ultimately ends the encounter after your dead.

D&D General Does Cleric/Druid get 2x wis bonus to Arcana checks?

That's an interesting one to me with 2024 rules. In 2014 where the damage was dealt at the start of their turn it was easy. But now. What if there 2 spirit guardians. 1 level 3 slot and 1 level 4 slot. Let's say there's no overlap and space between their areas. Shouldn't an enemy moving...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Right, it was a great idea. That said, I think it does even more for the fighter. So potentially that over tough (though that may mean backgrounds granting stats and magic initiate may not align so well). IMO blade ward can often be precast. So it's not like it would be an action every...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

They can always attack you instead of your familiar.

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

Assuming we are correct that Innate Sorcery works with True Strike then it would seem agonizing Blast and Repelling Blast do as well. Note: a Fighter with a heavy crossbow and push mastery and crossbow expertise feat can push the enemy back up to 20ft a turn with archery styles +2 attack, and...

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

'Make an attack with the weapon.... Use your spell casting ability for the attack and damage rolls...' Yes. I think so.

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

This might possibly make it clear it would work with innate sorcery without any other changes. True Strike: You have a flash of insight and strike with your weapon. Make a spell attack. On a hit deal damage equal to the weapons damage dice + casting mod used for this spell. The damage can...

    D&D 5E (2024) Practical Build #1. Champion Fighter.

@Zardnaar I like Piercer okay. Piercer+Savage Attacker+Polearm Master + Pike + Push seems like the best melee way to utilize piercer. Note piercer and savage attacker also work on the reaction attack (can get 2 rerolls this way). Letting you reroll 2 attacks damage die on your turn and your...

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

Because in the case of a low int fighter using true strike, those magical insights are worse than his natural instincts. Shillelagh is a good point IMO. It's worded very similar. I'd be curious to hear the logic as to why attacks with Shillelagh aren't attacks with a spell. I don't think...

D&D General I asked AI: "What's the Most Common Cause of Character Death?"

For the AI answers. I think it did a fabulous job. Like if a person was actually expected to speculate on the answers I think it's answers are in line with what a real person might have said. If you just want it to be all star-trek Data and say we don't have the needed data to answer that...

D&D General I asked AI: "What's the Most Common Cause of Character Death?"

Fun anecdote. I was in a campaign. Our Paladin was an absolute dual-wielding beast. Out of all the PC's the Paladin was Dominated and then proceeded to smite the rest of the party down 1 at a time. It was sad and glorious all at the same time.

D&D General I asked AI: "What's the Most Common Cause of Character Death?"

In general you can get the best medium armor long before you can max dex. AC from level 1 to 7 scales up faster with medium armor even though they eventually land in the same place.

D&D General Making Spellcasters feel Caster-y without actually Casting?

I'm not a big fan of alternate senses. Thematically cool but becomes a pain to dm around and ultimately as long as one player has the sense in question the whole party gets the info as you tell the group what is seen. Even just darkvision i really dislike in play.

    D&D General Should you Multiclass?

I love multiclassing in concept. I dislike 5e's implementation as it makes for weird dips and taking levels in a 2nd class way later than thematically appropriate and then continuing back in the main class and thus straining the overall thematics of the character. 4e Hybrid Classes were my...

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

Fictionally that would be because said fighter is worse at magic than he is at attacking normally. So it kind of makes sense if you view it as a spell attack. And regardless this interaction should really highlight that it's not simply a buff spell, because buffs improve the situation...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2nd level casters are disappoint

IMO. The bigger picture is that most casters (excluding some warlocks) are way behind at level 1 as well. So them getting more stuff than you may realize at level 2 doesn't solve the issue, unless it's enough stuff at level 2 to level the playing field. But it generally isn't. IMO, there is...

D&D General Making Spellcasters feel Caster-y without actually Casting?

As an example. One could turn a few spells into cleric class abilities that scale with cleric level or wisdom. Especially the iconic ones. Bless/Healing Word/Prayer of Healing/Spirit Guardians/Summon Celestial/Revivify/etc. Spells would still exist. But would be more supplementary than...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Warlock does have 1 particularly tanky build. Fiendish Vigor Invocation. 12 temp hp per action. Couple that with Goliath Stones Endurance and Healing Word / Cure Wounds and thats a ton of hp to chew through. If one can get armor of agathys in there, then do that, but it doesn't aid in...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Strangely the Goliath Stone Endurance ability works better for Fighters than Barbarians. While raging the damage reduction from stones endurance occurs before resistance's half damage reduction, essentially making stone's endurance half as effective for the raging Barbarian. Somewhat...
